Storm fans will complain about the penalty count, but they aren't giving the refs much choice.

If we don't win this game we are absolute junk and don't deserve to make the 8. We are 9-2 in penalties and Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk are having their worst games in years.

We are so shit. You lot are idiots whinging about the refs helping melbourne - we are leading the penalties 9-2 and yet are trailing having 12 sets more than melbourne. We are just complete shite and nothing more than also rans.

I agree. We're the drizzling shits out there. Darius crabs across field in the way that George Carmont could only dream of. Directionless as soon as we get inside the twenty.

Boyd is really shit, had enough of him and his skirt wearing efforts. If we are paying him 450k he is earning 400k of it playing 3 games a year in maroon. His involvement in attacking plays is shameful at times, i'd rather a Gidley who is utter tripe but at least tries to do something. Boyd should be running decoys, playing extra man either side or hanging off the hips of ball runners to attract defenders off. All he does is a 4th play cross field crab, draw and pass which results in a try 1/20 times.

We're good but not good enough. Simple as that. We'll be in the finals but no chance of winning it.

We all knew it was going to happen.

We all knew we'd compete for 65-odd minutes before the Storm kicked clear, so I'm not too sure why we're too upset.

The Storm got the beneficial calls, how the refs missed the knock-on in the lead-up to their first try I'll never know and how Cronk didn't get binned I'll never know.

We'll make the 8 but won't do much more.

There is little point in playing if we are going to get screwed so comprehensively.

35th minute first half, Melbourne drop it cold and we get penalised, they score.

Slater was in front of Cronks kick and they don't even
check it.

The play the balls were a disgrace, Melbourne just wore the refs done and then got away with everything.

The NRL can get f@cked, the fashionable teams are gifted wins and team like Newcastle just get used up.

Whether that's the case or not, the same sh!t goes on each year.

If Bennett doesn't blow up then he is kidding also.

This.

We are devoid of attacking options and should have kicked away with the possession and penalties.

The comp is two tiered and we are well and truly in the bottom tier.

I do think we have the right to be very upset about some of the refs' decisions here. One of the most important tries for the Storm was scored directly off not one, but two knock ons...and the other was set up by a guy who obviously should have been in the bin.

Yes we had a lot of possession through penalties, but lets not kid ourselves here...every single one of them we got was more than justified. They were offside the entire game, even the Storm supporter sitting behind me admitted that. We should have got even more IMO.

Yes we should have done more with our possession, but that doesn't change the fact that the tries that won Melbourne the game were dubious at best.

On another note, I don't like Mullen running the ball so much in the opposition's 20 because our attack has absolutely no structure when he's not in the attacking line.

I think Yosh summed it up well: we're good but not good enough. We're better than most sides in the competition but we're obviously below Melbourne. So yeah, I'm not going to join in the wrist slitting after going down competitively to a side most of us can concede are above us.

We go sideways far too much. If you want to go sideways you've got to go forward first.

Attacking their fringes got us points though. Joey was saying in the commentary that's how he'd attack their line. Not excusing some of the epic crabbing though but it was probably a plan

The Storm get away with murder basically every tackle. Holding down far too long, 11-4 or whatever the penalties ended up, it wasn't enough.

The refs are more than happy to bin someone for throwing a punch but cheating during the game gets constantly ignored. Not just Cronk taking out Boyd but they should have received a warning when they were constantly infringing on their goal line as well, it's the same thing the Roosters did a few weeks ago.

As for us, we were good, especially in the first half, but not good enough in attack for most of the game. We should have had more than two tries with all the ball we had, so that's disappointing. Our defence on our line was actually quite soft at times too.

I posted my thoughts in the other game day thread so I'll just say this here:

Boyd is a useless merkin considering his $$$.

Our first penalty came in the 39th minute, you grubs have got 6, all piggy backs when pinned deep, refs are your friends today, blind wankers. Only an inbred novocastrian would say the refs are against them with a favourable 6-1 penalty count lol!!

kill yourself
