The biggest crowd in NRL Monday Night Football history is 30,120, when the Rabbitohs took on the Bulldogs in round four, 2010 at ANZ Stadium. The Rabbitohs are urging their loyal Members and supporters to turn out in big numbers next Monday night to eclipse that crowd figure and to get behind the men in cardinal and myrtle in round one of the 2012 season.
The longest standing rivalry in the game, between 1908 foundation Clubs South Sydney and the Roosters, will be the crescendo to the most highly anticipated opening round to an NRL season ever. Next Monday nights fixture will be the 204th clash between these two proud Clubs, and doubles as the first leg of the battle for the Ron Coote Cup in 2012.
Besides the action on the field, there are plenty of activities for the whole family around ANZ Stadium next Monday night. Everyone loves something for free, and there are plenty of freebies lined up for this game.
Kids under the age of 16 get FREE general admission entry to this game with any paying adult, and train travel to the game at Sydney Olympic Park is also FREE for those holding a Rabbitohs Ticketed Membership or a Ticketek ticket to the match.
There will also be a FREE BMX and freestyle motocross display outside the main gates of ANZ Stadium between 5pm and 6pm, brought to you by Fuel TV and UNIT. Action sports stars Bilko and Kyle Baldock will be putting caution to the wind, spinning and flipping themselves over enormous jumps for your viewing pleasure.
The Rabbitohs KidZone will be in action featuring a Rabbitohs jumping castle, free face painting, a colouring-in competition and the chance to meet some of the kids favourite South Sydney players.
At half time, one lucky patron at the game will be selected from the crowd and will have the chance to win a 12-month platinum FOXTEL subscription.
There are also two great competitions running in the lead up to the match, one for Members of the Rabbitohs and Roosters, and one for supporters securing their seats by purchasing tickets through Ticketek.
Any Rabbitohs or Roosters Ticketed Member attending the game on Monday 5 March will also go into the draw to win two tickets to State of Origin I in Melbourne in 2012, including return flights to Melbourne for one of the biggest games on the Rugby League calendar.
If youpurchase a ticket to the game by clicking here entering the password ULTIMATE, you can win the Ultimate Sports Lovers Pack which includes a Family Pass to your choice of NRL game at ANZ Stadium, the opportunity for you and a mate to go behind the scenes and be in the Fox Sports commentary box for a future match, plus a one-year platinum FOXTEL Subscription, all this thanks to FOXTEL who have five live games every week. With the Rabbitohs on the cusp of surpassing the 20,000 Member mark, CEO Shane Richardson is encouraging all Members and supporters to make their way to ANZ Stadium next Monday for one of the Clubs most important games of the year.
The clashes between the Rabbitohs and Roosters are easily the most anticipated match ups for our Members and supporters each year, Mr Richardson said.
When we found out we had Monday Night Football for round one, we immediately turned our focus to attracting the biggest crowd for an NRL Monday night fixture.
Everywhere I go Rabbitohs Members are asking how the team is shaping up and will we be able to take that next step forward into being a premiership contender.
The best way to find out is to head to ANZ Stadium next Monday night and see for yourself.
Weve made it easy to get to the game with free train travel, there are lots of extra activities for everyone in the family throughout the night, and were expecting the game to be an absolute cracker between the games two oldest rivals.
If youre one of our 19,500-plus Members we hope to see you in the best seats in the house on Monday night.
If youre yet to become a Member, grab your tickets from Ticketek and come along and experience a Rabbitohs vs Roosters game live at our home ground.
Well see you there!
