Apologies if any of these articles have already been posted, I was busy yesterday and am only just catching up on all the Latrell news now.

What an absolute f**king circus this has become. A real joke. Look, I admit the club stuffed up when Hornby told us Trell won't play again. All this could have been partially avoided if he didn't say that. They also stuffed up by not naming him in the 22-man squad for this week. That would have forced the NRL's hand as we'd either play him, or force the NRL to suspend him. I really wish we were smarter with those two issues.

But what the NRL has been doing is a joke and a mockery, not us. I absolutely hate this agenda driven BS that's been on NRL 360 this week. Saying we're not taking accountability in just copping the suspension next year and teaching Latrell a lesson. That's missing the point.

The point is, the NRL is being extremely inconsistent with this and it's different rules for us. Justin Olam, this Season, was allowed to serve his ban while injured. So why is it different for us and Trell? That is the issue. That is why we're fighting this so hard.

Never before has the NRL gone against the advice of doctors. Three of them in fact. Never before have the NRL decided on the fitness of a player. Never before has a club been forced to have an independent trainer come in to determine a player's fitness.

The NRL want him to serve it next year so badly, that's clear. Because it's us, and because it's the NRL, they'll apply different rules. What an absolute f**king farce! My blood is boiling!

The rules are set and should not be changed mid-season on the run by the CEO who is acting like he's a King or Emperor.

There is no actual rule about players needing to be fit and available to serve a suspension. Not yet anyway. There is no rule that says a fit and available player has to have sufficient training loads to be selected to play. Not yet anyway. These are just brain farts from Andrew Abdo that are being concocted based on how he feels about Latrell Mitchell's situation and about Blake Solly and Souths.

The usual way to make rule changes to the game in recent times has been for the game to bring together some leading stakeholders during the off-season to discuss which proposed changes should be accepted and which shouldn't be, have it voted on formally and when accepted, declared to all the clubs via memos so they can filter it down to the coaches and players to get their heads around it in preparation for the new season.

You want to bring in a rule that says injured players can't serve suspensions until passed fit and have their training loads up to a certain level? Bring it to the key stake holders in the off season pow wow and see if they give it the green light and go from there.

But enough of the brain fart policy on the run rubbish. It's wrong on so many levels!

Souths’ Latrell ban bid rejected as reason for NRL call revealed

The Daily Telegraph’s report, the Rabbitohs were unable to provide the relevant information in the time required for the NRL to ‘make a proper and informed assessment of the player’s fitness to participate in the match this evening.’

The Blues Origin star has received his answers, with the game’s governing body ruling he will serve his one-match suspension when he is fit and available to play in the 2025 NRL season.

Earlier this season Bulldogs forward Jaeman Salmon served a two-match suspension for a high shot on Te Maire Martin while sidelined with a fractured jaw.

So the precedent has been set doctors can be undermined and all players must do a 45mins fitness test

I love how they gaslight Souths by saying "the Rabbitohs were unable to provide the relevant information in the time required" when the club was blindsided by the request and not given any notice of this sudden unexpected and unreasonable additional request having done all their homework on the medical advice and then gets blamed for not being able to answer it "in time".

F*** the NRL!

Souths were told by the NRL they didn't need to select him in the 22 man squad on Tuesday due to him being banned pending medical advice which they went and got and trusted them on that. Now he's effectively banned for 2 games, not 1. They didn't even let him go on the field before the Penrith game last week just to help the boys warm up because he is suspended for supposedly 1 game. That's ridiculous. Why should a suspension include assisting teammates who will be playing? That's draconian and petty in my view and serves no genuine purpose.

It's up to the coaching and medical staff to decide whether a player is fit and available or not and the ruling body has no say in it. Until now, all of a sudden, in the case of the polarising and highly politicised Latrell Mitchell.

So, now the NRL can choose which game a player will be suspended for? If they want it to punish the player more, why not say he is banned from playing in Indigeneous round next year or if Souths make the finals, he is banned from playing finals? As an extension of the precedent they are now setting by being creative with their suspensions by virtually insisting on which round the player will miss, it could hypothetically get as ridiculous as that if you follow their loopy logic.

There's a lot of Latrell hate out there (and in here) and so Abdo is just being populist and opportunistic about this, basically trying to avoid any backlash by haters who might turn on the NRL for being supposedly too lenient with the punishment, so he's adding to the punishment to cover any bad publicity especially from the Murdoch media Souths-bashing mob.

F*** the NRL!

Oh, and to answer Bwaith's clueless question asking "why are Souths making such a big deal about this?" rather than just copping it up the rear end, it's because it's a clear double standard that's being applied to Souths that has never been a rule in the game before now, that has been made up on the run and plucked from Abdo's arse that only people with no integrity and no principals would simply accept and not protest against the unequal and unfair treatment.

Stupid question Bwaith.
