Injury Update: Alex Johnston

Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston has sustained an upper rib injury from Thursday's game against the Penrith Panthers.

Alex is a week-to-week proposition and is working with the Rabbitohs medical team to return to the field as soon as possible.

So, the update does not specify whether there is actually a fracture or not but at least it says it's not the scapula up in the shoulder but rather, it's around the ribs. Could be cartilage (which is more painful than a fracture) or a fracture. But they would say it was a fracture if it was, surely.

Wish they were a little bit more specific but anyway.

I'd say he is in some doubt to play this week against the Roosters but at least it's not a long term injury so it's better news than first feared.

I think it's hard to give a timeframe on rib injuries because it's pain management. AJ could probably get an injection and play this week but do we really want that? It's not a finals match and we're 3-1.

Yeah, but then again, it's the Roosters. Y'know?

If he's not right, he's not right. But if he is able to get through the game without causing any further damage, then harden up I say. Needle, cup of cement and get stuck into them.

I've done my cartilages more times than I care to remember and they pop more easily as a result. Can't sleep properly for weeks. Can't surf. Even watching TV on the couch bloody hurts.

But it's the Roosters. Y'know? ;)
