Wayne reckons it's not too bad and he could be available next week. But the scans will tell the tale.Looks like AJ will be out for most of the season shoulder blade scaplier goin for scans
Injury Update: Alex Johnston |
Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston has sustained an upper rib injury from Thursday's game against the Penrith Panthers. Alex is a week-to-week proposition and is working with the Rabbitohs medical team to return to the field as soon as possible. |
So, the update does not specify whether there is actually a fracture or not but at least it says it's not the scapula up in the shoulder but rather, it's around the ribs. Could be cartilage (which is more painful than a fracture) or a fracture. But they would say it was a fracture if it was, surely.
Wish they were a little bit more specific but anyway.
I'd say he is in some doubt to play this week against the Roosters but at least it's not a long term injury so it's better news than first feared.
Yeah, but then again, it's the Roosters. Y'know?I think it's hard to give a timeframe on rib injuries because it's pain management. AJ could probably get an injection and play this week but do we really want that? It's not a finals match and we're 3-1.
Yeah, but then again, it's the Roosters. Y'know?
If he's not right, he's not right. But if he is able to get through the game without causing any further damage, then harden up I say. Needle, cup of cement and get stuck into them.
I've done my cartilages more times than I care to remember and they pop more easily as a result. Can't sleep properly for weeks. Can't surf. Even watching TV on the couch bloody hurts.
But it's the Roosters. Y'know?![]()
AJ & Munro once fully fit with Rava as the back up. Munro is the future while Rava goes back to Saints (at this stage). Munro has to overcome his collar bone frailty though.Mate I feel ya. The interesting thing will be when our full squad is fit. Are our wingers Munro and AJ or AJ and Ravalawa? Or even Munro and Ravalawa. I'm going to assume Munro and AJ but Rava plays his workhorse role very well.
South Sydney have been forced into a dramatic backline reshuffle after losing star five-eighth Cody Walker and boom halfback Jamie Humphreys in the first half against Sydney Roosters.
Fijian winger Mikaele Ravalawa also suffered a hamstring injury early in the second half.
Humphreys came from the field with a left hamstring injury in just the seventh minute and was replaced by former Dragons and Tigers playmaker Jayden Sullivan.
The 22-year-old watched the rest of the match from the sideline with ice on his left thigh.
Walker did not return after halftime, with reports that he had hamstring tightness and would not return.
Latrell Mitchell moved to five-eighth, with Tallis Duncan taking his place at left centre.
The Rabbitohs lost Ravalawa just nine minutes into the second half forcing a further reshuffle, with Jack Wighton shifting to the wing and forward Jai Arrow moving to right centre.
The changes left Souths with just one interchange for the last 30 minutes of the match.
Walker is hopeful the injury is not serious, with the trio set to be sent for scans.
"It was just a bit of tightness," Walker said post-game. "I'm not sure how severe it is, I'll get a scan over the next couple of days. I feel like it's on the minor side."
Yep. No need to take risks with key players either. If it were finals time, it would be another story but it will be only round 6. Latrell to 6, Gray remains at fullback for another week. I'm not so sure Dodd gets the 7 given Bud Sullivan's heroics in the match last night to set up the comeback try. Chances are Dodd starts and Sullivan retains the 14 would be my guess.I don't like the sounds of Hamstring tightness. I think they should all be rested next week and potentially the week after. Latrell is an excellent 6 and Gray can play at 1. I think this is an opportunity for Dodd to step up at 7 as well. Hamstring Tightness can turn into strains very easily.
Gray remains at fullback for another week.
Wayne is the coach mate.I think after last night Jye remains at fullback indefinitely. Barring injury he is our custodian moving forward.
Thats why I'm so confident that Jye has the #1 all sewn up. Wayne won't fold a winning hand.Wayne is the coach mate.
So, you don't read the sports news?Thats why I'm so confident that Jye has the #1 all sewn up. Wayne won't fold a winning hand.
Yeah, you keep saying. Righto.Doesn't change my opinion. Wayne has a long history of misdirection when it comes to the press. I expect Mighty Mouse to be out the back from here on.
