Not at all surprised to again have one of the toughest, if not the toughest, draw of any club. The NRL want to load the draw with marquee box-office clashes and the Rabbitohs have lots of great rivalries with many clubs so that's their focus. But it does make a difference as far as a club's chances during the season and I doubt Souths will ever get an easy draw.

The draw is joke once again we have the hardest draw nothing new. No home game til round 4 I assume Accor is not available.

So we play all of last years top 4 twice only team to do so.

At least we have 2 Sunday arvo home games.

You know what backs to the wall we will be ok together stronger and unbreakable! I’ll be emotional if we can make the top 8 and we will!

Be brave r20 brave heart is behind us.

Not a concern as south’s will play the hard teams which is good at proves their worth… then come the finals. You won’t get bundled out after the first one or two games because you’ve been playing easy teams all year…

RABBITOHS (D-)

Luck of the draw: There is no luck to be found for the Bunnies, not at least to start their campaign anyway with new coach Wayne Bennett has been handed the toughest opening to a draw both in terms of travel, with three away games to open the season, and the strength of competition.

Banana peel: The damage was done after nine losses from the first 10 games in 2024, and the Rabbitohs are staring down the barrel of a similar fate under Wayne Bennett. The Bunnies are facing a mammoth top eight gauntlet in the opening nine rounds of the season - playing seven of the top eight sides to open their campaign.

Can’t-miss match: Rd 1 v Dolphins, Wayne Bennett returns to Suncorp against his former side to strike the first blow in Kristian Woolf’s NRL coaching career.

Play twice: Panthers, Sharks, Roosters, Storm, Bulldogs, Dolphins, Broncos, Dragons

Play once: Cowboys, Knights, Manly, Tigers, Warriors, Raiders, Titans, Eels

Byes: Rd12, R19, Rd 26

Verdict: Brutal draw for the Bunnies that could end the side’s finals hopes in the first two months of the 2025 season.

Games played against 2024 top eight, bottom nine teams:
Top eight: 13
Top four: 8
Bottom nine: 11
Bottom four: 3

Grade: D-

On the bright side our byes come at really good times considering we will have a few players out for origin.

Also there's a chance that some of the top teams from 2024 fall down a fair bit. The roosters are definitely a team on the slide.

An announcement regarding Ilias’ arrival at the Dragons is reportedly imminent.
Ilias’ exit from the Redfern club could reportedly have a ripple effect, with club bosses reportedly discussing a potential move for Matt Lodge.
The move could only be made happen if cap space is cleared, however it remains no certainty the former Sea Eagles enforcer will join South Sydney.

Meanwhile Brandon Smith's manager is emailing around for a new club. He won't be available until maybe August so any club that might want him for the backend of 2025 would only need a smallish? amount of cap space free to get him for the final 4 months of the NRL calendar year if he's not taken before then (which would be stupid). The year or 2 after would be a different story but, just saying.

Dragoons apparently gave Lachie a 2nd medical today (bend over and think of England) so they obviously fancy him.

Also ,they think he might be their only option to play halfback.
