Big rule change coming. I’m not a fan but I see why they’re doing it

My concern is the team kicking off is the team that’s just conceded a try.
The momentum is already with the team receiving the kickoff and now your giving them better field position to restart the game through these shorter kickoffs or a 7 tackle set if the kicking team stuffs it up.
Maybe they need to change the kickoff as well to team that scores kicks off?

Maybe make it that you kick beyond the 20, you concede 7 tackles but a short kick off means a 5 tackle set to even it up?

But they absolutely have to save the game from itself by mitigating the number of concussions more and more or the game will die in another generation after this.

Where Hunt lands will affect the Dragons as far as possibly freeing up a half for them which could have implications for whether the Dragons then try for Ilias or not which then frees up cap space for us.

If Hunt goes to the Roosters as was suggested today, that won't free anyone up for the Dragons which means Ilias to the Dragons is still in play. They are looking at Atkinson for 2026 ahead of Lachie but if the Sharks refuse to let him go early or he re-signs long term with them, our chances of offloading Ilias goes up.
