Rabbitohs sign George Ndaira

15 Jan 2008

Yesterday George Ndaira was training with the Roosters, today he was training with the Rabbitohs and tomorrow he will be heading to the United States as part of South Sydney’s squad for the Australia Day Challenge.

Ndaira is the latest addition to the Rabbitohs first grade squad for the 2008 season and the former Dragons and Roosters hooker said he is glad to be on board.
“I’m really happy to be here at South Sydney,” he said.

“I’m happy with the way things have worked out and I’m really looking forward to putting my head down in the pre-season and during the season proper and pushing for a first grade birth. The boys have been great so far and have really made me feel welcome.”
The 86kg, 175cm Ndaira made his NRL debut in 2006 with the Dragons and has played four NRL games. He spent 2007 with the Roosters.
Rabbitohs Director of Football Operations Shane Richardson said Ndaira would add spark to the Rabbitohs outfit.

“I’ve been chasing George for a few years now and am glad to have finally got him,” he said.
“He’s got some real pace out of dummy half and that’s what we will be looking from for him in 2008. He is great back up for the options we already have in that role. His style of play will really suit the style of football Jason Taylor wants to play this season.”

hard to understand this signing with Issac already on board at the bunnies

i herd Ndaira was going to be the next big thing a few years ago and he just never lived up to the hype, you dont get that sort of hype without some talent, but you'd think he'll struggle to get the #9 spot of Issac pretty well established now

Fantastic news on the back of Irvine's retirement. Great signing for depth and he'll be pushing for a first grade spot all year, if he isn't indeed in first grade.

We were a little thin at Hooker. Luke starts, Wing could part-time it, we lost Irvine to injury a few weeks back and Smith wants to be a utility.

Irvine Rigon Retiring and Webb going to the Dragons. We realistically only had Luke and Beau Falloon left, good depth signing.

I've never really got to see him play - has had wraps but hasn't been able to play FG for the Chooks. Good luck to him.

Dont know much about him ???...any good ??.
Creative ball player, but simply not up to the defensive rigours of the hooker role. Poor tackling technique and not all that robust. The reason Saints let him go and Newtown played him in the halves so often.

i think its stupid letting him go...
was one of the best in a sloppy PL side....
and this should end any speculation roosters are over the cap...

Another Roosters reject to the Bunnies.

Hes no reject, You probably never heard of him.
Roosters need to shed players for obvious reasons, Souths lost Irvine so this is a great replacement as he's a better player.
He should of played first grade for the roosters in 2007 as he was the stand out player for Newtown as he was when he played for Lebanon and in lower grades for Dragons.
He was only at the Roosters for one season and and played PL all due to poor coaching selections

Roosters have no depth for Hooker and halves and letting him go was very stupid.
Fittler wants to use one hooker and have no hooker sub. He wants James Aubbusson to be the hooker, if he gets injured or suspended or just plays poor they are stuffed.

This proves how little you know about the Roosters. We signed Riley Brown to be our back-up hooker this year. We had no room for Ndaira. You guys are welcome to him.

A bit of a worry if he couldn't play 1st grade for the Roosters in 2007. Wing was in the halves so their options at hooker were few.

Interesting that now the Roosters have one halfback in Pearce and one hooker in Aubusson. Pearce still hasn't recovered from his back injury so things could be grim out Bondi way. At least they have a good forward pack now-aye!

They had poor coaches in 2007. Like i said he was the best player for Newtown, either at hooker or in the halves.
hes a goal kicker and great in attack, his defense will improve at Souths, its hard to learn anything at the roosters, they have no idea how to develop players.
Lucky for us he was only there for one season, so we don't have to do to much work on him to get him playing first grade

A neat and tidy signing.

Depth?

We have to tread water these days, we havent felt the sand with our toes since '06.

Our Roosters buddies...they actually enjoy getting their head's flushed in the loo!

Its a 'satisfactory' forward pack. I agree.
