race in the nrl

It's funny seeing people use inglis as an example that racism doesn't exist in the nrl. Yes...because he is quiet and unassuming. Doesn't have an opinion on anything and that's the way they like it.TThey don't like people with a bit of character. It's exactly like hayne said...in America they celebrate showmanship, over here they frown upon it. Guess why? Because the white players aren't capable of that natural flamboyance.they have to be serious and offer the same cookie cutter response in every interview.

God forbid a player show confidence in their ability and tell the world about it. God forbid the leading try scorer in multiple seasons who does backflips after scoring, being over looked for a nothing player in soo (and we ended up losing).

In 50 years the nrl will look very different the way basketball/football in america was once dominated by white players. The funny thing is...the racist media were lamenting how at the junior levels it's become unfair due to the size of islanders at that age. So it's not enough they want the nrl to stay white they want the jiuniors to be the same. Ha!

I think you should address your own issues before throwing mud at others.

I like celebrating people with character. I don't need everybody to be homogenous. I want the nrl to have characters the way the NBA and NFL have characters. Shooting down players such as mundine at his prime just because he was outspoken was just the politically correct way of maintaining the status quo.

And I'm not trying to be combative or antagonistic, but don't you tire of listening to interviews and hearing the same pedestrian answers that don't move you at all? "We played well as a team and stuck to the coaches plan. We completed our sets and kicked well executed blah blah bullshit". You want someone to come out and call out another player. Put some heart into it! Score a try and point at a player as you race away. Make it personal. That's how it should be.

What a load of shit. I used Inglis as an example as you were saying underperforming black players get dropped.
I give you an example and this is what you come up with.

It was a stupid examp!e as inglis isn't playing that badly and to a level where he should be dropped. On the other hand...widdop?

I'm a white man, but used to always cheer on Anthony Mundine as a boxer. I liked that he said what he thought and was certainly no robot and admired his skills as a boxer. When i watched the Danny Green fight in large crowd at an RSL club, EVERYONE who was white was cheering on Green and calling Mundine a Black C### and basically baying for his blood. It made me ashamed to be white and only made me like Mundine even more.

Later on after the fight had finished, I asked this table of people who were cheering for Danny Green, why they hated Mundine so much. They basically all agreed they thought he had a big mouth and needed it slammed shut, not because he was black, just because they thought he said stupid shit. So I'm still unsure, to this day, if it was racism that made people hate him or simply the fact that people don't like people who speak their mind. They like everyone else to be just like them, and if they're not, they hate them. The government would be proud of their good little robotic, obedient sheep out there.

But as a rugby league player, while he was certainly great to watch in full flight, i simply don't believe at all that he was better than Fittler or Daley as a player, as he said. On his day, sure he could be better than either of them, but consistently, the other two were better. They did it more often than Mundine did.

A few people on LU said Soward is a shit bloke, so I'd definitely be leaning towards that elite point of view

Bit of a giggle here, everyone assumes in a discussion on race in RL that dark skinned people are the underdogs. I'm happy to admit that Indigenous Australians per capita are far and away more talented than the white guys and on the whole Indigenous NZ's make the better Forwards . . . I can't help feeling sorry for the sunburnt brigade

What you're describing here has nothing to do with race. I agree that the players are too cliche and boring, but again, it's not a race thing. You're the one bringing race into it.

Why do people dislike Soward and Mundine?
Because people don't like f**kwits.

Heaps of people hate Cameron Smith as well and he's as white as they come.

Nathan Brown is currently picking Brendan Elliot in FG ahead of Uate, Chanel and Pat Matautia. None of these 3 are world beaters but they shit on Elliot from a great height.
Although I don't think it has anything to do with colour, Elliot might have pictures of Brown or something.

Some of Mundines most vile outbursts have in my opinion been against other indigenous Australians.
I understand people might like his attitude but surely even his biggest fans have to admit he is a bit of a cock.

Calling Artie Beetson an Uncle Tom, saying that Daniel Geale isn't aboriginal due to who his mrs is.

Mundine, whilst a great athlete, is a flog of the highest order.

The funniest I found was him saying homosexuality isn't compatible with the dream time. This coming from Mundine a Muslim.
