Prince was far more talented then RATM, he was even a great actor lol.

Yeah we already know your thoughts on talent...

RATM by a million lengths.

And what is that suppose to mean??

If Prince tours he will sell-out stadiums......when RATM tour they struggle to sell-out the Horden Pavillion

Another 3 chord band

He toured late last year. 2 sold out shows at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. A bloody big arena.

He's been around along time Godz Illa, do you reckon RATM will be remembered in 10 years.....and even if they where to form back up...apart 14 & 15 year old fan group do you think anyone will give 2 shits??

Prince hasn't been around for a while as " Prince", yet 2 sold out show at the Entertainment centre??..he's still got it.

I don't mind RATM, but Prince is a legend....know matter what you think of his appearence & dress sense, how many albums has he sold??, how many number 1 hits has he had or top 5??.

Purple Rain, what a song 8)

If RATM got back together and toured the world they would sell out in a couple hours.. They are awesome not only are they great but growing up through highschool when we had big parties and pissups you could always guarantee RATM would be cranking out of the stereo a few times during the night.. Can't say i have ever heard prince at a party...

This argument is crap though.. Opinions here are subject mainly to a generation gap.

Nothing KS ;-)

You know the teenie bopper thing.

BTW

CH, i wen't to school right through when RATM where at the peak with " Killing in the name off"....they was pretty popular, but bands like Green Day, Nirvana, Offspring, Sound Garden, Pearl Jam left them for dead in the popularity stakes.

That is probably true. Anyone too young to remember popular music in the 80s properly wouldn't have a full appreciation of what a legend Prince was.

Prince Prince Prince.

All the doubters should check out the Gold Experience album. Much more guitar oriented than the 80s albums.

Also features the fattest (in the true sense of the word) drummer in the world, Mikey B.

RATM were good, but their body of work comes nowhere near the diversity, virtuosity and longevity of Prince's.
Wake up to yourselves.

Well it seems a sizeable generation gap may rob Prince of his rightful victory here, so I will simply use this thread as a soapbox to shout far and wide my admiration and worship for my favourite artist.
Over a 20-year period, Prince placed 32 singles in Billboard’s Top Forty, from 1979’s “I Wanna Be Your Lover” to “1999,” reissued in the very year it referenced. From the early Eighties to the mid-Nineties, Prince was a near-constant fixture on the album charts. To date, 18 Prince albums have been certified gold or platinum, and five of them - 1999, Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day, Batman and Diamonds and Pearls - have sold more than 2 million copies apiece. Purple Rain alone sold 13 million copies and topped the album charts for nearly half a year at the height of Prince’s reign in the mid-Eighties. As Rolling Stone contended in 1989, “Perhaps more than any other artist, Prince called the tune for pop music in the Eighties, imprinting his Minneapolis sound on an entire generation of musicians both black and white.”
Last year he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I like listening to Rage more, but musically speaking, Prince is significantly better.
