Back in the day (long time sice I have watched Rage regularly) quite often, the guest programmers would comment on the huge list that they were given to pick stuff from. I don't know whether the is any other arrangement these days but it was all from the ABC video clip stocks.

As for Australian groups what about ACDC OR Icehouse you did make it overseas or even Crowded house?

the only thing Icehouse ever influenced was people hammering nails into the hands, squirting superglue into their eyes or cutting out their own hemmoroids with a rusty razor. Anything to not have to listen to that "band".

I saw wolfmother do it and they picked anything they wanted.Pink Floyd's "set the controls for the heart of the sun " got a run.

Sonic youth also got to pick anything they wanted.

I seriously doubt the ABC would go to all the trouble of getting someone like J.Hetfeild to program it and then give him a list to pick from.

I saw the wolfmother one aswell, and thats what got me into them, not only that they chose wisely.

Normally Rage is pretty bad, but I saw Dani California by the Chilis which is the most random clip, great song though. I lorrve it. So that being shown made it all good.

So? You could just go watch that Video Hits or Channel V 7 times a day...

I saw David Byrne programming once and he showed the books that list all Rage's clips. There were about 3 dead-set bigger than phone books. Massive.

Rage is far superior to any other music video show. It's just kept simple.
Gotta love the exact same graphics from 1987 though.

True, the start is great as always, however rage has gone down hill in my opinion, yet it is still the best place for music.

Not on my watch.

If you're going to have that then you may as well have my pick, "Jump In My Car" by the Ted Mulry Gang.

Look, at the end of the day, 80s hair bands are rubbish and incredibly daggy. No one would want to pick a clip by them unless it was with a great deal of irony.

I just don't understand how you can like them so much. There has been great music in every decade since the 50s, so why not listen to the good stuff, new or old.

Ted Mulry Gang..TMG - Jump in my car what a classic! just like Howzat by Sherbert or Yesterday's Hero - JPY, all classics of their time. On the subject of Rage though I say bring back "BEATBOX" anyone remember that? or Nightmoves on channel 10?

Well actually they played some Quiet Riot, Bon Jovi & Iron Maiden on Sat night, so i was pretty happy.

I feel the same about listening to your music, you see, opinions & taste are different from person to person.....only difference is the music i listened to influenced millions;-)

I know, but c'mon, only two songs........many bands have done covers so you can't really discriminate against Quiet Riot.

Van Halen have done a heap of covers, all good though, and they certainly left their imprint on those songs.

You are right Ron, a couple of covers isn't a big deal, I only made the point as they were pretty big hits.
