Yes i know it's a video show, but why even have programers if they're going to play the same sh*t over & over again.

And since when did this topic become a bash hair metal thread?

Say all you want about hair bands, but the bottem line is they're more talented, more popular and made more money and influenced more people then any of your sh*te music ever will.

So pretty please with sugar on top get over yourself, find your head, and realise that hair metal bands played an important role in music and believe it or not could play their instruments bloody well, instead of every two seconds finding a reason to put hair metal down, without any logical reason.

So f**king what if a majority of hair metal clips where on stage! is that a f**king bad thing? actually i love those films clips, beats the stupid arse film clips you see today and wouldn't've cost anywhere near what they spend on clips today.

And while now im in a merkin of a mood, Elementary they never play new sh*t, only generally at 4am.

Well when you host rage you can play that fuggen crap all night long .

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Oh Ron ....this is just not your day.

Reminds me of one of my all-time favourite songs...

Somethin's wrong cause my mind is fadin'
And everywhere I look there's a dead end waiting,
Temperature's dropping at the rotting oasis
Stealing kisses from the lepers faces

Last Saturday's Rage was one of the best i've sene in quite some time. Soulwax presented - and although they wern't the most entertaining hosts - they picked some great tracks. I recall Daft Punk, Sonic Youth, Kate Bush, Human League, Daivd Bowie, Aphex Twin ('Windowlicker' of course, of the greatest videos ever) and alot more. Go Rage!

Firstly, you obviously underestimate the huge amount of influence over music that the specials had, and still have Ron. Also, a lot of bands will pick songs such as '(I'm) Stranded' by The Saints and 'The Mercy Seat' by Nick Cave, or a Kylie song, because they simply don't know any other Australian bands/songs. Also, a lot of musicians, though these artists are in a completely different genre to them, will like bands such as Crowded House and Beck.

Secondly, bands will request songs they like, or songs they think have an interesting video clip, hence why lots of bands pick songs like Aphex Twin's 'Windowlicker' and The Prodigy's 'Smack My Bitch Up' even though they are far from the best songs their respective artists produced.

Normally Rage is pretty bad, but I saw Dani California by the Chilis which is the most random clip, great song though. I lorrve it. So that being shown made it all good.

I actually saw a Poison clip on Video Hits a couple of weekends ago. All their clips are the same, pretending to be playing live, and looking like a bunch of twinkies. That Poison guitarist has to be one of the dead-set sh*ttest guitarists I've ever heard. His solos are so bloody awful....

Anyway, Rage may not tickle everyone's fancy but they have a dedicated metal time on friday nights at about 2am-4am, and they put the set list of what the guest programmers are playing on their website so you can see if you want to stay up for it.

Rage also must have pretty much every video clip ever made in their archives, I've seen some absolute gems on there.

Oh don't you start;-) i have to admit im not a fan of his either, but i've said before their is nothing wrong with pretending to play live, it gives you a feel of how bands were on stage.

I'll have to check it out.

You tell me how a song like Ghost town could be so influential? it doesn't make sense does it?

As for Australian groups what about ACDC OR Icehouse you did make it overseas or even Crowded house?

I also forgot to mention Kate bush as another one thats always played.

I'll have to admit last Saturdays wasn't to bad, but prior to that for a while it was the same songs over. Even my girl friend who doesn't like much rock said " that rage plays the same stuff over & over".

So have Motely been on recently and what did they request?

I saw wolfmother do it and they picked anything they wanted.Pink Floyd's "set the controls for the heart of the sun " got a run.

Sonic youth also got to pick anything they wanted.

I seriously doubt the ABC would go to all the trouble of getting someone like J.Hetfeild to program it and then give him a list to pick from.
