Raiders lose again

No I wouldn't change my mind if Monas snapped his neck. Especially since he landed directly on his back, like you do at the end of any good tackle. That's beside the point.

Right, because the point is that he was lifted above the horizontal underneath the crotch.

That's the point, slappy.

Lifted by whom? Meli had his hand between the legs but he didn't lift him. Faumuina lifted him but didn't have the hand between the legs.

The Riaders lost to a team that deserved to win.

All this talk about the referee costing the Raiders the game is utter tripe, propigated by a small section of desperate Raiders fans. You lost...own it boys.

The Warriors played tough, uncompromising football and won.

End of story

Thierry is actually one of the more objective posters here.

Meli started to tip Monoghan up, then stopped and let the others finish the tackle off and Monoghan landed on his back. How is that a spear?

Seu Seu's hit on Davico was NOTHING. I can't believe he was on report. LAUGHABLE.

In addition Schifcofske got hit high by Seu Seu, and took a dive. As soon as he knew he was getting the penalty he got up and was fine about it.

You can't send someone off for a lot of high tackles, just for one particularly bad one. Nor can you use that as an excuse for losing. "We lost because one of their players wasn't sent off." What the f**k?

Did I ever say we lost because they didn't send off Seu Seu?

No.

Balmain Boy, had those tackles happened against the Tigers, dare I say you'd be singing a different tune. Your continued hatred of the Raiders amuses me.

haha thanks BB. To be honest I'd want to see the Faumuina/Meli tackle again before I passed final judgment. I certainly struggle to see how Meli could be suspended, as it was certainly Faumuina who caused Monaghan to be lifted, and as I saw it (this is more subjective though) he had no intention of lifting Monaghan, but rather he was trying to grab him by the legs and either tip him over or drive him back. As it happened, because Meli had Monaghan between the legs, Monaghan went up in the air as soon as Faumuina grabbed his legs- but if a player is standing in the tackle and the referee isn't calling held, why wouldn't you grab his legs??

As for the SeuSeu tackle, the second one (which our friend IBG believes was a send-off offence) was an absolute piss-take on the part of the video ref, a slap on the face if it was above the shoulders at all, and Schifcofske took a timely dive to give Chris Ward, who seemed to delight in tormenting the Warriors all day, a chance to find a penalty. The first one was a much more solid contact although appeared to strike the jaw on the way to the chest, as opposed to a deliberate smack in the mush. Might deserve a suspension though.

Another question- when the Warriors first try was disallowed, why were the Raiders given a 20 metre restart even though McLinden blatantly knocked the ball on?

Thierry Henry, are you serious about the Hohia no try? McLinden knocked the ball straight towards his own dead-ball line. The Anderson knocked it on.

Goose.

So because I'm complaining about the referee, I'm a sore loser? Sheesh. I guess we're all sore losers because everyone complains about the referee nowadays.

And Thierry, I'm not saying the Schifcofske tackle was a send-off offence, per se. On its own, it would've resulted in a penalty. However, as I said, Lyons said that the next high tackle he'd put someone on the sidelines. Seu Seu, who already had committed a high tackle, did another one (albeit not as bad), yet Lyons took no action, even though he said directly that he would if the opportunity arose, which it did. No balls at all.

Where's the consistency? That's what I'm complaining about.

Actually he was running towards the dead-ball line and the ball clearly went backwards over his shoulder. I expect a more mature attitude from you Timbo, ya goose.

Debatable. I don't need to watch that one again, we saw it 1000 times. I daresay it would've been called a knock-on 99 times out of 100 if it didn't result in a video ref decision. He definitely knocked it forward in relation to the momentum of the ball and where he was moving, but the balls backwards momentum might just have saved him.

The referee was a joke. I never use him as an excuse, but Steve Lyons was awful.

In the first half there were several high tackles against us, and he warned Monty Betham that next time he'd send someone off. So there was a next time, but Seu Seu a repeat offender, did another high tackle... and took no action. Grow some balls son.

The Seu Seu tackle on Davico was 10 x worse than the one that Hodges was sent off for.

And then with 7 minutes to go, he did cost us the game. Gafa was playing the ball, the Warriors bloke was all over him and pushed him back, and the referee ruled a knock on (the ball never went forward, it was just a sloppy play the ball which the Warriors caused). From the ensuing scrum, the Warriors scored the match winning try.

I think the Warriors had the game plan to come out and try and rattle us by going high, apparently it worked.

Meli, Faumuina and Seu Seu will find themselves on the sidelines for quite a while, if there's any consistency.

Still, we could've won it much earlier. No excuses I suppose.

Instruction guide for you:

Remove head from sphinxter, take both eye patches, THEN comment.

The Jerry Seu Seu SHOULDER? You're joking. Give yourself a triple. Davico was running with his head at shoulder high, and he hit it. Jackpot. Tough sh!t. The fact the touch judges was the biggest joke. And your comments rival it.

"No excuses I suppose" - only about the 354,521 you nominated.

By the way, how """good""" was Simon Woolford's jumping jack flash tackle?? Oops, don't bring that one - objectivity and lack of factuality would stop a good story.

"Grow some balls son" and admit your team lost.

The ref actually said he would sit someone down if there were any more infringements in the play the ball. Not for high tackles. I don't think that's even legal.

The Raiders lost because they have a pact to right a new play book, How to lose a game, By the Canberra Raiders. Seeing as this was chapter 3, I now wait for chapter 4 to come...

On Davico's tackle. Anyone saying that it was a 'shoulder' needs to head back to Biology 101, or at least give themselves an almighty self-inflicted uppercut. The Bicep is not the shoulder. That tackle, IMO, was the exact same sort of tackle that Ruben Wiki was suspended for 5 weeks for. Not saying that this one will get that, but it was the same. Arm was held out there, running player headbutts arm, and goes down. I don't think Jerry Knee-U Knee-U meant to take his head off, but it was careless and will probably get noticed by the judiciary. His other tackle was soft, but it was high. Any shot around the chops should be penalised. Woolfords effort was funny, little blokes just should not jump up to tackle.

The Warriors spear tackle will be interesting. Mainly on two points. Hands went between the legs, and monaghan went above the horizontal. He may have landed well but that was more luck than anything.

In the end, I knew the Raiders were gorrne after 2 minutes. Basically it seemed the Warriors wanted it more. I watched the Warriors/Cowboys games weeks ago, and that today was a very, very different Warriors side. Perhaps the sleeping giant has awoken? Either way, the Raiders have added chapter 3, and we Raiders fans hope it ends there, but you never know....

Don't be suprised if Matt Elliott doesn't come home with the team. I saw him climbing the light towers with some rope.
