At the risk of re-opening old wounds here, I was listening to a few tracks by The Doors the other day, and I noticed that on the songs I listened to, the drum beats were very simplistic, the sort that any kid learns the first time they pick up the sticks, and a lot of the bass lines were just simple 8-bar blues riffs. Definitely it was Ray Manzarek that was the heart & soul of The Doors, not their front-man, Lizard King extrordinaire Jim Morrison.
