Raiders Plan to Trial in QLD

The Canberra Raiders have set tentative dates for three trial games early next year.

They hope to field a team made up largely of fringe players against Cronulla on January 24 at Seiffert Oval.

They will then embark on a two-week training camp in Brisbane, where they plan to play the Broncos in Redcliffe on February 21 and the Bulldogs at Meakin Park on February 28.

Incoming assistant coach Ian Millward said the trials would present an exciting time.

"Getting to see the players first hand will be great and it's going to be a real education for me at training." Millward said.

"I think the trials the club has picked are really good - Cronulla are an uncompromising team, they do the basics well so we will know where we are."

"The Broncos, well if they win against Melbourne they are in the grand final and I think the Dogs have recruited well."

Millward returned to Canberra yesterday before officially starting with the club on November 1.

Bugger! I'll be in NZ in late January so will miss that first trial.

Meakin Park is Souths Logan Magpie's home ground - situated in Slacks Creek, Queensland. I haven't been there myself but I plan to get to that one.

I'll be at both as long as I'm not working. We usually get two games up here in SEQLD due to the relationship with Souths-Logan and I'm enjoying the rewards so far

Make sure you get to this game - if you dress in Green or your Raiders gear, you will receive a FREE ticket to our first home game - Round 2 vs the Tweed Heads Seagulls at 3pm, Saturday 21/3.

We plan to get out to this one ... Saturday is forecast for 29 deg max with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms so dont forget your rain coats :lol:

actually ive been making a few trips over the boarder recently to play golf.

its not a bad course..

anyway. who will the raiders pick in their squad? i doubt any first graders will be appearing.

Just wanna know if anyone can get a score update and stuff like that.

brett kelly and brad cross are apparently going to show the coaching staff what their made of and try and battle it out for a spot in the backs.
