Sorry, forgot which night phase he attempted a kill in, but 9701 definitely attempted a kill, and definitely came back as mafia when I investigated him

Yeah you were blocking Jason maher from killing, but Jason maher was FFB aligned. So it's very probable that you are the mafia role blocker, and the mafia kill is factional.

9701 definitely came back as mafia aligned, unless it's a case of a town player turning up as mafia when investigated, but I've never heard of that happening before

Definitely not a paranoid detective skill. I commented it's massive because, so far there's been 6 members of that mafia, as well as FFB mafia and independents...seems fairly disproportionate to town numbers. Maybe when the coup occurred extra mafia members were drafted in?

I think the cult with the coup had recruited some people before ousting Don Dutchy. The question is can the new-mafia still recruit people? They used to be a cult but I have no idea if that power carries over now that they've become the mafia. Are they still recruiting or does the coup set their numbers?

Was the cult and coup the same thing? Soc always came up as Indie and the census (increasingly wrong census by the looks of it) said Cult was its own side.

Would make sense though. Drew outing Dutchy day 1 when they're both red is just weird. Seeing Drew's an investigator he becomes a prime recruit target and after the coup Drew turns red.

Whether they can still recruit, that's the big question.
