I actually had a very close look at Noddys kicking game on the replay.
Being Noddys biggest critic of his kicking game, I will take the unusual step of saying it actually wasnt that bad.
For starters, he didnt even kick in the first 20 minutes. Bird & Dykesy kicked 3 times.
And they were poor kicks.
noddys kicks could have been better placed, higher & less orchestrated but they werent bad. 1 downtown went 55 metres to open space & possibl his best kick of the year.
However, we are not applying enough pressure in repeat sets & long kicks in the first 20-30 in my opinion. This is BK's responsibility.

Eskmo, Take a bow mate, that's a fantastic post. I totally agree with your point that slumps are going to come to most teams at some stage, and I'm happy it's coming now rather than later.

3 poor losses with 120+ points scored against them and rumours of preferential treatment in regard to player selection.... I think the vibe would be very downcast.

In Peacheys interview after the game on Channel 9, he mentioned that there would be no finger pointing at individuals, but he looked as though he had a few individuals on his mind.

He'd find it very hard to point the finger at anyone in the team with what he's dished up in the past 6 weeks.

Against New Zealand Warriors we would've been better off having 16 in the squad.

way to bore us all stupid with your pointless agendas drag-bag. again...

i'm assuming you've actually watched the games ? yes peach had a poor game vs warriors, but how do you fail to see the contribution and effort he puts in to every game. in fact he's been close to our best player for the last 6 weeks.

Ohh the poor players got yelled at..
BIG DEAL, they are First Graders, the way that most of them have played over the past 3 weeks is shocking apart from some glimpses.. They deserve all they get, if i was Raper i wouldn't have been holding back either..
Some of them need it..
The only problem i have is that there should be more of it, i doubt that it was going on like that, when we won that very scrappy match against the Warriors..

Any coach/boss would get stuck into his staff if they didn't perform. Our boss does it all the time and we don't get paid anywhere near what they do you get over it and do your job. Hopefully it will turn them around and they won't all think like Sully and say that it is band aid solution and will only last a few weeks. Maybe they should start slapping each other around before the game to get them fired up. Hope we shyte on the Rorters and show Ricky what we can do and hope Brett has a blinder.

I know they are all grown ups and they can handle being yelled at, but do we really expect being yelled at will make them want to try harder. I wouldn't think being yelled at by your coach would be a great motivator.

I lose respect for my boss when he resorts to yelling at his staff

Well it's not like they would fear being dropped now would they.
Nobody likes being yelled at, but when the end result is nothing but hot air what does it matter?
If I have a bad game it's cool I'll still get picked.

Isemonger was dropped

it wasnt directly his fault
he didnt play a good 18 minutes either. Raper is probably making his point by dropping Isemonger. there is nobody else (except for the obvious 2 but there have been numerous polls and discussions on them so id leave them alone) that raper can really drop yeah? If Isemonger has to be the scapegoat for players to think that 'that can happen to me' im happy for him to have a week in premier league.

Isurus you beat me to it. Coaching is simply another form of management and to be yelling at the players actually shows a loss of control and weakness on the coaches part.

I'm in management myself and the principles are the same. So are the errors you can make.

Yelling is traditional in football but it's from the dinosaur era. In most other walks of life, if people knew their rights, it would be the manager (coach) that would be in the sh*t for that sort of behaviour. I know it from experience in fact.

The buzz words now are - bullying and harrassment.

Theoretically it would probably apply in football as well if any one player decided to push that barrow.

I think there is a bit to read between the lines in the Sully quotes in the initiating post of this thread. Quite a bit actually.

Just another of the counter productive things Raper is getting noted for.

When the players have watched the replay, taking a special interest in goulds comments, they'll be fired up this weekend alright.

I've bet on them once this year, this week will be the 2nd time, they are a certainty.

What is this woosy world coming to when you suggest that should a player care to push the barrow, he might be able to sight a case for being bullied and harrassed because his coach YELLED at him. FFS we have all had coaches do the pills and quite frankly we all know we've deserved it on those occasions. What do we want, unemotional coaches who moddycoddle their il performing players. These are grown men, who probably all get on the drink together and think nothing of the yelling antics that occur not only after games from coaches but on fields from team mates.

Please, dont turn rugby league into the politcally correct woosy world that is slowly but surely evolving where people are not supposed to be berated or upset!! thick skins are becoming very rare thses days!! sad sad sad

After the drivel the majority of players have dished up the last 3 weeks, I would be very pissed with Raper if he didnt fire up.
They need to be shown some videos of the 88/89 team...the playoff for 5th spot comes to mind...heart and soul Sharks.
If they get smashed this week, look for a twentysomething local lad (me!) to run on and make some tackles of my own!

Don't put words in my mouth please Nullajet. I made no such suggestion, I simply mentioned what could happen.

That's not my fault, I'm just telling it like it is. That's our world. I don't like it either but I don't make the rules.

The unfortunate thing is that football appears to be seperate from any of the workplace legislation in effect. There is example after example of clubs treating players and staff with the utmost disregard for their rights and getting away with it. Criminal acts, bullying, unfair dismissals, pay dilemmas and all kinds of other breaches of the law that apply to us regular folk are regularly and wantonly ignored within the football world.

Look at the Treister case. Classic unfair dismissal, but nothing happened.
