I am not tearing him apart. Far from it.

I am very happy with the style they are playing. I like risk.

But doesnt mean we cant talk about short comings. Or the positives.

Like Greg Birds "charge of the light brigade run" last night.

next year with our new assistant coach will help Rapes a lot, soemone that gets on well with him will add another dimension to the club, in coaching around the halves

I must've missed this posting. Who?

I will reserve my judgement on Raper until seasons end. With that said, no one can deny we have a better squad in 2004 than 2003.

Anyone who thinks we should re-sign Beattie is kidding themselves. He is one of the biggest logs I have ever seen in my life. I have never seen a bloke walk to the line when taking the ball up, he is in the same catergory as Paul Merlo. The amount of times he went backwards was embarrassing.

Whats the point of have all those sets of tackles if we don't put points on the board?? You can talk up the kicking game all you like, but when you don't get the money it means nothing. Our attacking options close to the line were dreadful. As much as I like our forward pack, when are we going to get a COUPLE of forwards who are unstoppable from 5 metres out from the tryline?? I know Nutley scored, but surely someone else can break the line as well.

Probably someone like a Mitch Healey Coastal Shark.

No you didn't miss anything, Beekershark puts in these I got some information but not telling lines here and there.

But does he have information.................

I dont think Reefy bashes players (coaches maybe). I do agree I think the Broncos work very hard on technique. They dont panic either ! Look at Bailiey last night , he looked uncertain as did Bird. Peachy (after the stupid pic up) played with real confidence and I think along with Stevens inspired the team in attack. We just dont look confident in every set of six . We dont deserve to be in the top eight until we do.

Mitch would be great ! He would stop those big slow bascketball passes ( throws) that travel sooooo slow and tell every defender where its going. Seen a few of them last night?

There were at least 2. This is something I have not seen from Bird before. Maybe he is learning?

get too damn eager looking for ways to get down sombody else's throat and you're bound to trip over yourself. also i think it was ssb68 who dropped the mitch healey inference. not beeker

but hey ! weren't we talking about football ?

5th tackle clearing kicks - rubbish. straight to the opposition and poor chase. just made our guys work twice as hard and put ourselves under constant pressure. got to be sorted and quickly.

kicks in in-goal for repeat sets - best i've seen from us for ages. well controlled and not one intercepted. (i think. please don't rip me to shreds if i overlooked something  )

i thought the chase for these kicks was ok but we really should have come up with a try when we had 6 sets in a row attacking their line. that's when we really missed kimmorley.

we showed lot's of heart but just missed a bit of composure and direction. same as the last 3 weeks. come on noddy sort out that damn hammy !!

we've improved since last year. the team is more confident and more of a unit. we are in with a chance of the finals (tho is getting slimmer and slimmer). If sumone told me last year that we'd compete with the broncs without kimmorly id have laughed at them, last year we wouldnt have been competeative even with noddy. id say rapers doing a fine job.

Has kent been signed yet? (if not sombody should be shot)

Oh so it's Rapers fault the Sharks aren't kicking longer??????
I'm sure he tells he's players everything you are whinging about BTR but there just not capable or consistent enough in executing it. So to say that it's Rapers poor tactics is ridiculous!!

Personally I thought the worst aspect of our game was the kick chase. It doesn't matter how good the kick is unless you've got a wall of defence to back it up. So many times the Broncos were making 20 to 30 metres from half breaks because of wide gaps in the defensive line chase.

They got all the momentum after that initial roll on from poor kick chasers that we couldn't get them to make many kicks from deep in their territory.

I'm afraid it's a case of some players putting in WAY more than others. Raper is doing well with the current players at his disposal.

You were raving on about Kent after the Newcastle game and claiming he was better than B.K. Well we're seeing how good a judge you really are now after seeing Kents kicking game ever since!

So you are saying Kent is useless now too?
You gonna need a new shovel for that massive hole your digging.

kent is not supposed to be kicking. Raper tactic.
he is always 3rd choice, last night he was 4th choice
Sully, peach & Bird were all in front him. But for some reason, the poor guy just gets chucked the ball when he is not in a position to kick.

We have all been talking about the chase game long before you chimed in.

Kent is no Kimmorley.
I certainly haven't been impressed with his ability to set up players into gaps.
Average kicking style and average distance on the kicks.
You were raving on about him when you heard he was first selected against the Knights and then stated Noddy had nothing on his kicking game after that game

WRONG!!!!!

You don't know what Rapers tactics are so don't pretend to know so.
Teams don't always carry out coaches orders, or in some cases good enough to do it on a consistent basis. The kicking was spread around last night, Kent did not have the sole responsibility.

Interesting thread.

I don't think our kicking game can be blamed like it is in this thread for our loss. What was our completion rate?

you really struggle dont you? Not only to type out a comprehensible post, but in actually understanding what other people write as well.
kent had no responsibility last night. He is not the kicker. I know, because I asked.
To be honest I dont care who kicks, as long as they kick it properly. Kent did against newcastle & he hasnt since.
The best kick last night came from Greg Bird with a 65 metre 40/20 attempt. so why not him everytime?
Why am I asking you a question anyway? like, you'd know.

Geez, I don't see Bird as a long term solution.

I think we just need Noddy back.

Bird is a long term solution and should be used to kick as well as noddy, one of them either side on the 5th, keep the opposition guessing.

Hey maybe even try something different like run it on the last, opposition times are reading us pretty easily atm.

lol this is awesome, now backflip WANTS bird to kick!

after incessantly bagging him and wanting to KICK him out of the team.

come on backflip, get down to shark park have a chat with uncle barry demand you be employed as a tactical advisor to stuart raper, and then we can all go forward as happy little sharks supporters.
