No they wouldn't. They'd be realistic and take it one step at a time.

Yes, & those steps lead to being in rep sides

The last thing most of the players would need is to believe half the hype they get here, because most of it is unfounded and requires a lot more hard work.

So you're saying we shouldn't give young players a wrap because they may read this & think it's easy resulting in them being crap? It's peoples opinions, whether they come right is another story

You can't honestly tell me that in 10 years time if you saw this thread you wouldn't say about 30-40 of these players "WHO?" How can you then call those players good for a clubs depth if they aren't genuine first grade quality?

& can you show where people are saying they are qulaity? People are naming ht eplayers they can play in which positions, depth doesn't necessarily have to mean 'talent

The fact is there are only currently 15 first grade teams, and a limited amount of spots, not all these players here will secure a spot anywhere. Put them in a thread regarding promising juniors or promising premier league players, but regard them as first grade depth? I don't think so

Once again point out to me where in the thread it states 'name your promising juniors pr Premier League players & do you think they are good first-grade depth?'. You made that assumption, no-one else

Okay, I'm sorry, ALL the very average players in the comp or fringe players are "depth". My mistake. I viewed depth as capable players, I would say for instance St George have a lot of depth at prop because they have quality players in that position starting and on the bench, whereas I would say for instance the Warriors do not have depth at fullback because there is currently only one genuine option. I could name Toopi, Webb, Atkins, Ropati as being depth in the way you look at things, but I wouldn't call it reliable depth. You compare the quality of Toopi, Webb, Atkins and Ropati to Bailey, Ryles and Sims - its no competition. The Dragons win all over. I'm going off quality, not quantity. If Webb goes down, there's no proven quality at fullback, if Bailey goes down, Sims for mine is proven quality. Bringing Sims in still leaves a lot of strength in the position.

A lot have named their entire club's squad, thats not depth, or as I see it quality depth, its whos at your club this year. Thats the way I look at it.

No, I believe young players should get a wrap, but not every single one of them, there are only so many NRL grade juniors of real quality. It seems nearly all have got a run over the off season. Personally I have wraps on two or three of the players at the Warriors, namely Louis Anderson and Jerome Ropati, but the rest haven't shown me enough.

Droid - The Broncos have the depth, but how long before WB gives them a fair run?He prefers tried and tested. The young blokes only get a go when there are injuries,or during Origin.Karmichael was an exception.

It sh*ts me to see deadwood like Kelly is in the team ahead of some talented young bloke.

IMO Kelly Patrol, Bennett's hand will be forced and we will see more rotation at the Bronco's given for 2 years in a row now, our "stars" have looked like Jim Beam Cup footballers at the business end of the season.

I believe Bennett will put his players well being first, wins second this year in order to have us primed for September. I think Brisbane will not be the only one doing this, look for Canterbury and Sydney to follow suit as well.

I don't think any of the first pick rep guys like Lockyer or Webcke will play the alotted 24 games in 2005, I think they will play around the 20 mark myself in which they will be given games off.

Just my opinion, though to avoid our players becoming stale, Bennett will rotate them with the talented youngsters we have emerging in the lower grades.

Stu Kelly on the other hand will not see a minute of first grade football.

I'm glad someone brought some reality to this thread!!

When I introduced it I did not intend on it being a thread to name all your up and comers.

I was hoping for a little bit of debate on club depth VS others. Maybe I should have asked for opinions on which clubs struggle with depth, and requested bias to stay out

Warriors (rated on genuine depth)

Fullback: Webb
depth: none really

Wing: Meli, Byrne
depth: Ropati, Martin, Vatuvei

Centre: Toopi, Martin
depth: Byrne, Ropati, V. Anderson

Stand-off: Fien
depth: Hohaia, V. Anderson

Halfback: Jones
depth: Hohaia, Fien

Props: Price, Paleaesina, Villisanti
depth: Wiki, Te Mata, Tuimavave

Hooker: Latu
depth: Betham, L. Anderson, Fien

Second Row/Lock: Wiki, Guttenbiel, Betham
depth: Lauaki, V. Anderson, Te Mata, Koopu, L. Anderson, Rua

Basically we have tons of depth in the forwards, but not much in the backs, and particularly at fullback where Webb is our only proven option. The halves were a problem but the addition of Fien increases our options there a fair bit.

The Storms depth have always been a concern, but we manage to find a couple of top players every year.

This year I am looking forward to see who will shine as the next rising star.

Fullback - Rhys Wesser, Trent Clayton, Brett Howland, Nathan Gilchrest, Geoff Daniella

not a smart idea putting him at fullback we tried that against parra in 03 and he was getting smashed and dropping balls until we moved him to the wing where he broke the line twice and started playing well
