Yes, & those steps lead to being in rep sides
The last thing most of the players would need is to believe half the hype they get here, because most of it is unfounded and requires a lot more hard work.
So you're saying we shouldn't give young players a wrap because they may read this & think it's easy resulting in them being crap? It's peoples opinions, whether they come right is another story
You can't honestly tell me that in 10 years time if you saw this thread you wouldn't say about 30-40 of these players "WHO?" How can you then call those players good for a clubs depth if they aren't genuine first grade quality?
& can you show where people are saying they are qulaity? People are naming ht eplayers they can play in which positions, depth doesn't necessarily have to mean 'talent
The fact is there are only currently 15 first grade teams, and a limited amount of spots, not all these players here will secure a spot anywhere. Put them in a thread regarding promising juniors or promising premier league players, but regard them as first grade depth? I don't think so
Once again point out to me where in the thread it states 'name your promising juniors pr Premier League players & do you think they are good first-grade depth?'. You made that assumption, no-one else
Okay, I'm sorry, ALL the very average players in the comp or fringe players are "depth". My mistake. I viewed depth as capable players, I would say for instance St George have a lot of depth at prop because they have quality players in that position starting and on the bench, whereas I would say for instance the Warriors do not have depth at fullback because there is currently only one genuine option. I could name Toopi, Webb, Atkins, Ropati as being depth in the way you look at things, but I wouldn't call it reliable depth. You compare the quality of Toopi, Webb, Atkins and Ropati to Bailey, Ryles and Sims - its no competition. The Dragons win all over. I'm going off quality, not quantity. If Webb goes down, there's no proven quality at fullback, if Bailey goes down, Sims for mine is proven quality. Bringing Sims in still leaves a lot of strength in the position.
A lot have named their entire club's squad, thats not depth, or as I see it quality depth, its whos at your club this year. Thats the way I look at it.
No, I believe young players should get a wrap, but not every single one of them, there are only so many NRL grade juniors of real quality. It seems nearly all have got a run over the off season. Personally I have wraps on two or three of the players at the Warriors, namely Louis Anderson and Jerome Ropati, but the rest haven't shown me enough.
