Over the whole World Cup rather than the final alone

Lance Hohaia 7/10 – Everything except on the high ball was great. Does something Webb did well and that was play the hooker roll if the normal dummy half was not available (Webb came to the Warriors as a hooker). Close line running great, still probably the best super-sub in the NRL, but not the best fullback.

Sam Perrett 7/10 – Had a good tournament, not too many mistakes except that horrible run out of the line for the Inglis try. Good out of dummy half, and helped keep the forwards fresh.

Simon Mannering 8/10 – Still think he should have started in the second row, however we won the cup, so I will always be wrong. Fast and great tackler, just needs more aggression.

Jerome Ropati 7/10 – Exactly what you expect from Jerome, he will do something great one minute, then will knock the ball on in the tackle the next (it happens to him all....... the....... time for the Warriors).

Manu Vatuvei 7/10 – Ditto. However, more inconsistant than Jerome. Well, I guess it was pretty easy to look good against Calderwood (LOL, LMFAO, all the other internet codes to say "O............ MY............ GOD............ I truly cannot believe Calderwood made the England team, HE SUCKS!)

Benji Marshall 7/10– You may be noticing a pattrn. Lots of knock-ons and missed tackles, but made up for it with a surprisingly good kicking game and the ability to direct the team around. Why does he insist on making a goal kick that could put the team 8 points ahead harder by scoring further out? WHY?

Nathan Fien 8/10 – Well, everyone said he should be the starting halfback, and they were right. Solid, good kicking game, defence ok. Controlled the games well at halfback.

Nathan Cayless 8/10 – Passionate, solid, dependable. Not the flashly prop, but then again, neither are Price and Civenaceva.

Thomas Leuluai 7/10 – SUPRISE, Wigan have a new hooker and need to find a new stand-off. We were all wrong and Kearney was all right.

Adam Blair 9/10 – The flashy prop. Great haka (that’s very important criteria), off load great, but chose his moments well. When he was named as a starter I was concerned, as he is a bench player for his club. However, Brett White, a NSW prop, will be struggling to make the Storm starting FR with Blair and Lima next year. However, Blair needs to match the passion he has for the Kiwis at NRL level.

David Fa’alogo 7/10 – What you’d expect, great go forward.
Bronson Harrison – Bench player for the Tigers who was not in the squad to start with, makes it good in Kiwis jersey, made Wellens look like Richie Mathers, great stuff.
Jeremy Smith – Solid, great tackler, nothing flashy - shown in his try.

Issac Luke 8/10 – Another great haka (again, these things are important in selection), running great, passing ok, a young player with time on his side. Not great against England in the semi, but hey, he was not the only one.

Greg Eastwood 6/10 – I have to say I may be the only person who thinks he should not have made the team. While he may do something kinda flashy every once in a while, he is often very lazy and becomes invisible half the time.

Sam Rapira 9/10 – This guy is considered the no nonsense, tackle and run forward at the Warriors. Stepped up his game and actually started bashing people in attack as well as in defence. (I also have a question for him: can you please play like that for the Warriors next season, thanks)

Sika Manu 7/10 – Did what he had to, did what you would expect.

Dene Halatau 5/10 – Didn’t get much of a chance, not really a test level player in my opinion, even if he is fast for a second rower.
Setimata Sa – Will develop, but needs more time. Once he settles into the second row at the Roosters next year, and stays away from the centres, he will be similar to Simon Mannering.

David Kidwell 5/10 – Getting old and showing it, Even with all the injuries in the team it is amazing that a guy who spent most of the year in reserve grade for the Rabbitohs could make the squad of the team that won the comp.

Steve Matai 6/10 – Injured, probably would have been sent off and suspended before the final anyway.

Krisnan Inu 6/10 – Had a hard year with injuries and conferdence, a player of the future who will hopefully strive under Anderson at the Eels, and then in the Back for the Kiwis.

Jason Nightingale 7/10 – Like Perrett, just to a lesser degree.

Evan Tuimavarve 6/10 – I have reservations about this guy at test level, an ok Warriors player who is about 22 or 23. And there are so many Kiwi props at the moment as well. Did ok, but against PNG.

I think Hohaia rated an 8+ at least. Far superior to Ropati.
What about Jeremy Smith. Another 8+.

My standouts (in no order):
Jeremy Smith - a real forward leader for us now
Lance Hohaia - has surely cemented the #1 jersey
Manu Vatuvei - best winger in the world
Nathan Fien - best halfback in the world
Sam Rapira - despite the dodgy haircut

Hohaia - Under-rated for being too small and too slow...hopefully his performances put that to bed. Suspect under the high-ball, everything else great.

Perrett - Agreed - good from dummy-half, and solid. Should be a winger of ours for some time.

Mannering - Agreed that he should've been in the second row, but hindsight is wonderful. Going to be great.

Ropati
- Agreed - will always be a brain-explosion or two, but he can be a very dangerous attacking centre

Vatuvei - Confidence issues are gone; didn't get the opportunities last night, but very solid.

Marshall - The unpredictability that we need. Over-promotes the footy, which leads to those little knock-ons, but he's so much better when he attacks the line.

Fien - Very happy with his performance. As a halfback he is capable (e.g. Cows 2004, Warriors 2008, Kiwis 2008) of steering things around the park. Could make the Stacey signing no big deal! Great kicking game last night.

Cayless
- Liked his performance last night. After Asotasi was ruled out, we really needed an experienced prop who was going to be our 'rock'
Leuluai - He was clearly much better at dummy-half; offers nothing in the #7 jersey

Blair
- Agree with the point that he needs to match his play at the NRL level. But, really took it to the Aussies with the haka and just in general.

Fa’alogo – A bit neutral. Does some dumb things, but also very combative.

Harrison – Great performance in the knock-out games, hopefully it's the start of something big for him

Smith – Yeah, agree with you there.

Luke – A real impact player. Probably best if he provided spark off the bench.

Eastwood
– Going to Leeds are perhaps into international obscurity, due to the depth in this part of the world.Agree that he is a little overrated, but he is only 21, so he also has more to offer.

Rapira
– Agree - need to see him lift for the Warriors after a laboured 2008 NRL season. To be fair, he was in the shadow of Price and Wiki. Can't say too much about the haircut though.

Manu
– once again, a big improver and still only 21. Got plenty more to offer, I'm excited.

Halatau – can't believe he was chosen over Luke in Game 1, but in the end, it was a deliberate ploy? Not cut out for international level IMO.

Sa – once again, probably won't make the 17, but really good depth for us in the centres or the second-row.

Kidwell
– he's done at international level.

Matai
– A fighter, but his presence was a little over-rated in the Kiwis, could do so much, but could throw it all a way with a swinging arm. Loved what he did for Manly, even if it was at the Warriors' expense.

Inu
– Yeah, tough year for him, but 2007 he was an amazing player. I think he will bounce back from the '2nd-year syndrome' and be a great Kiwi.

Nightingale
– a good finisher, under Bennett hopefully we see him developfurther

Tuimavave
– almost a stop-gap addition. We needed his experience here.
