Wellens -6- solid game.
Reardon -7- did well for his tries and pulled down some tough kicks.
Senior -6- strong in defence, GB need to use him more in attack.
Gleeson -6- solid in attack and defence
Carney - 7- tough competitor
Maguire -7- his run changed the game
Long -7- kicking still ordinary though a little better, lazy though keen in d, caused some problems at the line
Sculthorpe -7- Good if unspectacular performance
Peacock -6- okay
Farrell -6- almost a 7 for mine
Fielden -8- a million tackles could look to unload more, a Webcke-like performance
Newton -6- a good try but needs to offer more from dummyhalf, I'm keen to see if Diskin can do any better
Morley -7- Usual committed performance

Ellis -6- did a good job on SBW in the 2nd half, doesn't offer much in attack
Johnson -5- Who? Hardly saw him.
Bailey -6- Needs to get more involved
Harris -5- Limited opportunity, probably better starting.

Webb -7- involved throughout
Meli -5- Ordinary again
Toopi -6- Talented but lazy and stupid with it
Vagana -6- touch has deserted him since leaving the Dogs.
Hape -6- good solid game I thought
Anderson -6- keen but lacking class
Leuluai -6- a little better before injury, still short at this level
SBW -8- high workrate, penetrating, took Newton's dummy
Swann -6- Can't believe this guy is still playing test footy
Kidwell -6- stupid penalties brought him undermined his game again
Cayless -6- Was he injured early? Didn't see much of him
Anderson -6- ditto his brother
Wiki -8- Outstanding, particularly in the 2nd half when the others turned it up

Paul -6- ineffectual, hopelessly out of form
Cayless -6- hasn't played to his reputation for years
Rauhihi -7- Good metres and off-loads but a couple of loose ones cost his team
Lauititi -7- A long way from the world's best forward that he always threatened to be but coming back into some form at last

GB 108 NZ 108

The Kiwis were undisciplined early, giving away silly penalties before they settled down to some champagne footy. The off-loads were sticking and they looked a million dollars but they had no bal in the 2nd half and they threw away what they had with ill-discipline again both with the ball and in defence.

GB stuggled to contain the Kiwi's big men in the first half (who wouldn't when they play like that?) but it was made much easier for them when their opposition self-destructed in the 2nd stanza.

The Brits kept trying, the Kiwis beat themselves.

Maguire was an 8 at least, going by that scoring. Him and Fielden were best on the field. Take 1 off every Kiwi score there, they all made silly errors that cost them.

There's no way Meli played worse than Vagana imo. I know it's all the rage to bash Meli atm, but he was solid if unspectacular today, apart from one late desperation dropped ball. Sonny Bill was definitely an 8 Azkatro.

Fair point. I have what I call a good 6 or a good 7 or whatever, which is almost the next one up. He got a good 6 from me. Safe, just didn't offer anything in attack. Vagana was lucky to get a six, Toopi had his usual mix - some real classy touches beside heaps of dumb footy.

What about GBs 18th Man, Tim Mander?

I though he was spectacular for them.

Bloody stupid ratings to be frank.

Francis Meli gets a 5 when the likes of Toopi and Vagana get a 6? Do you actually watch the game? I presume the answer will be a big fat NO? Meli had a strong game, not many if any mistakes, compared to Toopi who tried to offload throughout the game and turned over the ball 3 times as a result.

So Louis Anderson lacks class aye? He was the top tackler in the match, and has an outstanding work rate. Shame that I thought his try assist had abit of "class" about it....

Paul was ineffective? Of course he was, considering he basically had no time to shine in the match. Should start next game. Any NRL starting halfback is better than Leuluai, and I'm serious.

Kidwell a 6? It was one penalty, not "penalties". He had a solid match, no mistakes whatsoever.

Yet another piece that proves you didn't watch the game, "Uh where was Cayless, didn't see much of him".

He made 22 tackles.

He's just had a terrible 2005 season with injuries etc. Lolesi should play instead of him in the next game against GB.

Agree 100%.

The Kiwi's are really missing Utai and the Volcano.

I didnt think Vagana was all that bad or Meli, they look worse cos Kiwis
halfs dont fire the ball out the sides much or create many plays for there backs, If Stacey Jones was playing he would get the backs more involved, as far as the backs running from dummy half they did a fair bit of that.

Not seen yesterday's match yet but on Tri-Series evidence so far and last few matches taken into consideration I would be inclined to giving Vagana his cards and think long and hard about Toopi.

Vagana seems to be afraid to tackle and his concentration has been woeful in his last three matches or so for NZ. Toopi seems to take too many risks in attack.

Why not bite the bullet and give Whatuira a constant run in the 13? Meli does seem to take an unfair caning too. He gives it his all and although he drops the odd ball he's a good player.

Robbie Paul is no HB. Never seen Benji Marshall play but is he better at 6 or 7?

Any side missing workhorses like Puletua and the ultimate tackling machine Galuvao will struggle. Get them on the paddock and NZ is a different proposition.

Has Benji Marshall definately declared himself available for NZ? He could really make a difference to that side if he continues to develop.

Was at the game, here are my ratings.

Thought GB back three were solid - Wellens was announced as MoM at the ground would give him a 7 or 8. GB halves can improve, but did the job and the centres attacked and defended well (7s) to them too. I thought Peacock played well - give him a 7 too. Otherwise agree.

For NZ, Vagana was the worst back so 5 for him, and Meli back up to a 6. Thought Anderson came close to a 7 and didn't do much wrong. Nathan Cayless was a 7 this time, he worked hard in the middle. Otherwise fair enough.

My totals GB 112, NZ 110. Good reflection of the game I think?

Mander I'd rate a 5, but sorry I don't blame him for penalties and don't think he favoured GB at all.
