Already know how this press conference from Ivan is gonna go. Good signs in the 2nd half, we just never gave ourselves a chance in the first half. Same shit he says every week

To be fair, the time for Ivan to tell some real hard truths is not today. That's not fair on a guy like Hassett on debut, who had a real crack. Nor Patea for that matter.

If Ivan is ever going to snap it, it needed to be done when we have been full strength, with no excuses regarding Origin etc.

Whether he likes it or not, our Origin guys are as much to blame for our current predicament as our rookies and depth players are. They deserve the spray too.

Outside of Vegas, and the post-HIA portion of the Storm game, the entire season has been completely insipid. We've played with zero commitment, zero desire. The hunger is well and truly gone, and those we thought were leaders are lost at sea.

Time to burn the roster to the ground. Put them all on notice. Not a single player should be excluded from criticism or review.

Just Awful.

Poor discipline and weak in defence. Story of our year.

Harry a try a on debut and Milky continues to play his ass off, the only two positives for me.

Casey and LP also played strong.

Daine and BS have surely played their last games in the NRL side.

The thing that hurts is looking like a rabble. Ivan has to dump these journeyman players in cup and let the enthusiastic young guys just go for it.

Ivan needs some help with a attacking coach. For years there is nothing doing when we get to the line, there is a last hurrah on the last play.

The players who are of contact this season should not be re-signed. Everything is robotic and no one upping the boys, giving them a push. All spectators, even when you watch Ivan he has not much emotion.

A real season to forget. We just needed to win this game for any hope over this origin period.

A few other things:

It's been suggested that Smith is an heir to Yeo in the 13. I think you'd have to really question that after tonight. Aside from some bone headed moments, he had little to no rhythm, timing or judgement with the ball. Huth, as old and bad as he is, would have done a better job replacing the great one. I know hes still young in prop years, but seeing how far backwards hes gone this year is concerning.
We probably need to let Laurie go. Has some good traits (great save on Lucas), but some awful errors at the worst moments put us under way too much pressure. The kids coming through now will be the ones to replace Edwards. Lets see what they've got.
We have problems, but the Knights have about 25% of their cap locked up in Fletcher Sharpe's two best positions. Lol.
Sommerton was good. Really physical defensively which was a pleasant surprise, while Kenny looked good in his stint as a running forward. That combo gives us much more flexibility and capacity to use our middles more efficiently. An infinitely better 14 option than the turnstile handbrake.
I dont know what to do about Milky. I've been critical and he still strikes me as physically inadequate for the league but he had some amazing moments tonight. That save on Sharpe was incredible.
I'd really like to see more of Hassett. Ran a great line for his try and had a few effort moments in limited time. Looked like a first grader.
Its such a weird year. Still feels like the finals are achievable given the tighness in the middle of the table, but we're really going to need some luck in the next few months given how woeful our depth appears to be.
Tago looked like a guy playing out of position unfortunately.
Schneider, Origin and B Sharp all tied for worst on ground.

Good post. I must admit I was all for Tago moving to Backrow, but after that leave him in the Centres. Season all but done now, time for a reset next year. Was a good ride while it lasted though.

wow.. not what I expected.

I thought we would be all about 1%ers, effort and discipline. I would not have cared if we got beaten by class. What were we missing? 10 of our to 17?

Start with the good. Happy with the younger crop coming through - let's handover the reins to some of them. Harrison, Luron, Milky etc. I thought Blaize had some good touches and was hoping that he would step into 1st receiver in 2nd half.

The bad. Awful start. We needed our senior players to step up. 0 hit ups for a starting front rower and back rower. No line speed, poor discipline. Brad coming up with the wrong option when we did have some ball. I get so worried when I see Laurie named as fullback. Always comes up with some key drops, being a moment too late in defense and not getting his body in the right position to stop try's. This was not helped by Sharpe. I have no idea how she can remain in first grade. How do we not have any better refs? Though we should have defended it, a set restart to knights early on for who knows what, while the Knights were able to lie all over us in the ruck and re-grip etc. And just some totally blind calls. Calling the knights for a double-movement, the hair pull etc. This ref can't keep up with the pace of the game and it costs teams week after week.

We have been so lucky with the last 4-5 years. I just don't like this sloppiness coming into our game. I guess it is a cumulation of things - no Jerome, no JFH, no Panthers stadium.

All is not lost. If we can get close to our best 17 on the filed for most games we will still make the 8 I think, but just depends what origin does to us.
