PS - Looks like this is our lowest Home Game crowd in Sydney against a NSW based team since the Sharks in 2009. We've had a few lower Home Game crowds in Sydney against Titans/Cowboys/Storm/Warriors during that time.

I've noticed that when fewer fans turn up the poorer the team performs.

Weather in Sydney has been abominable. Cold and the wind would blow a dog off a chain. Rains every 20 mins, then f**ks off. Repeat.

Bunnies Sharks (ie two Sydney teams) got 10k the night before.

I don’t want this comment to be confused with the bigger picture (that can be dealt with in the “when do we call time thread” but I am confused why some comments here and media summaries of the game are so superficial. All I see is comments like “inept” and “lowly eels”.

If you could create a perfect storm for a team to lose a match, it would be to crush your spine in the first 20 mins. Prior to Moses going off we were 1 try down even with only 40% possession and they had all the momentum.

With our backs against the wall, some players did disappoint however.

• Mennings continues to baffle me with his errors.
• Will Smith is a OK utility but many of the points came through his gate.
• Our edge players Manu and Tep carry the ball well, but don’t really offer any threat without an offload.
• Love you Gutho, but you are not a playmaker. Don’t own a money ball or much of a kicking game.
• Hooking options have burdened us all year. Nuff said about that already.

On the plus side, Gennings and Hoffman were good. Gower always gives 100%. Nathan Brown was strong. As was Alvaro. Gutho tried hard.

The match I saw our half back was trying hard, not being shy in defence and attacking the line. My only criticism is his long kicking game, but that is more about him being our sole kick option and Newcastles line speed.
