Excellent post and I stand for every word, I am sure most on here do as well!
Question is how do you stop being raided? How do you identify the ones you really want of it means you have to pay more?
I don't think you can stop raids. All you can do is pay the market rate for the talent you want to keep and provide a healthy environment for them to thrive in so they don't want to leave.

Talent identification is difficult and as I said before, more art than science. I member Gus saying Hethrington's physical capabilities were off the charts elite, but he couldn't turn that into outcomes that made him an elite player. To'o on the other hand, maximises his physical capability in full and combines it with hardwork and commitment to be an elite player. if you saw him when he was 16 you thought, "he's too small".

What you can do is monitor progress continuously, focus on teaching them the values of teamwork and communication. Be consistent so juniors understand a poor attitude is not acceptable.

You will weed out the poor attitudes and the rest is in the lap of the gods. Physical development is unpredictable. Will Jack Cole grow to be 190cm and fill out like Leota? Will he be incredibly strong like To'o? Or is this it, his physical limits are reached?

Place your bets gentleman, will he be the new Luaii or the new Harry Sjeikka?

It is so hard to know, although I think Jack will have a good career whether he morphs into Leota/To'o or not. I am just pointing out how hard it is to pick winners and you are going to get it wrong sometimes.

Martin and Sorro can and should play some middle. I like them on the edge to start and establish territory through defence but we just need more threat on the edges when the game opens up and Garner and Papali’i both offer something different; more dynamic out wide.

Garner is probably in our top two centres right now so i have no problem with him playing there but i dont think we drop Casey after probably his best game. He defended well, no errors and was nice in attack, He isnt coming up against a gun. At some point we have to let him just play and become a consistent first grader. If he has a bad game or two again give him a stint but if he is playing well i think just leave him. One thing he has that no one else really has in our side is speed.

Won't be crying if Garner plays centre. However about now is the time that combinations need to start settling.

Are we 100% sure Luke Garner is our starting centre for the deep end of the season? Its on the left side as well outside Blaize. Its important you have some threat on the left. Garner isn't giving us that.

I think McClean is the choice now with Alamoti and Jenkins fighting for the other wing position.

If there is any game on the calendar that i want to win, its against these muppets.

Just win boys. Luai will be up, but that energy only last 15 minutes. We have the better team obviously, but would be great if we could score first just once!

I reckon Garner is threat tbh, he's probably got a better all round attacking skill set then any of our centres, but im sticking with Casey while his forms good, if that last a while then i am just sticking with him full stop.

Alamoti is the weird one, played right centre in cup last week, would love to know what the deal is with him.

Ivan rarely changes winning sides if its not a very obvious upgrade or its injury related. I'd be surprised if Casey doesn't keep his spot this week.

Seems like everyone has finally caught up with me and now loves Garns

Imagine if Salmon was the outside backs cover in the 2023 and 2024 GFs.

Ezra would have got a double hat trick with him defending at right centre and Hughes/Katoa would have found their regular season form at the end of the GF.

Hopefully garns, paps and alamonti all come back in.

They really all are must wins her out but a loss going into the buy will be the nail in the coffin

Garns and Paps make it stong looking side on paper, our disicipline should be the only reason we lose if they both play.
