Rd 2 vs Easts

Well, it was a poor performance allround and we were dominated for about 60 minutes of the match. Lacking fitness and just poor defence doomed us as well as no possession at all throughout the match.

Positives:

Benji is back to his best and has looked to be the one of the most damaging players in the comp thus far.
Fitzhenry actually played well as made a few good scoots from dummy half and injected himself well.
Tuquri had a good game, he's a huge threat on the wing and solid in defense.
Keith was outstanding, a million offloads and an amazing workrate. He's looking a lot fitter and was the standout in a dominated pack.
Flanagan I thought played decently as well.
Robert Lui's injury - I know its poor form to label a player's injury a good thing, but as soon as he left the park and allowed Moltzen to shift to 7, we racked up 20 points in 20 minutes. I'm hoping all the best for him and it's not serious, but if we want to be competitive, Moltzen must be at half.
Fifita showed great signs when coming on and looked like a man amongst kids in our pack bar Galloway and Ellis.

Negatives:
Moltzen at fullback. It explains itself.
Lawrence had a poor game, well below his usual solid defence and offered up nothing in attack.
Farah had a shocking game by his standards as well.
The lack of fitness and the ability to tackle are two major concerns, the fact we'll have a short turn around against the ref boys next week is a big problem. We could be in some trouble.
Heighington is/was hopeless, he makes 20 runs for about 90m, he swerves backwards to run into markers for f**ks sake. If the man ran straight and at holes, he'd be a premier 2nd rower with that work rate. Also, he gives away dumb penalties which cancel out his tremendous work rate in defence. He really needs to pick up his act.

i dont think lui is doing a bad job, but look how much more comfortable marshell is with moltzen as halfback. he started running at the line, did a nice chip kick etc.... got some good points on

Lui at halfback, we score 2 tries in 60 minutes. Moltzen at half, we score 3 tries in 14 minutes

Not saying that this was the sole reason we lost, becuase the defence was like a pair of paper pants today........ tearable! but we showed alot more going forward with Moltzen at half.

Interesting side note to this was what was said during the channel 9 call... Sheens was on ABC Radio today and said that he sees Moltzen as "A ball runner, not a ball player. Esspecially when Todd Payton comes back"

Hate to harp on a point.....but.........

100% tiger pro.... Moltzen is a massive failure at fullback,( pricks should have kept Gallant ) Heighno has turned into a spastic even greater than Gibbs and i wouldnt be picking him next week, seriously his ability is going backwards by the week. Fafita looked at home in 1st grade and has the balls our pack desperatly needs. But no doubt he will not be selected and the same average players will be picked again for friday.. ummm and what about Cayless , doesnt look like he has visited a gym for 5 years , he looks weak as he plays?

Differant year but the same old sh*t as far as im concerned , another year with a pissweak small pack of forwards, still cant defend our line and still cant close out a game, still do not have a decent kicking game . We have all this so called depth this year but i bet Tim no exuses Shines fails to use any off it.

He'll use it. We'll have Tupou and Moors in the front row, Lawrence into the back row to make way for Daniella at centre... Fitzy will get next crack at hooker and Fulton is a shoe-in for halfback if Lui doesn't come good - just as long as the painkillers take hold. The most important thing is for Moltzen to hold that fullback spot, because since we let Gallant go he's all we've got. Apparently.

our defense was absolutely sh*thouse......suprise, suprise

next week i would like to see

1 - tiquiri (we need someone that can catch, run it back hard from the kick and support all over the park)
2 - ryan/daniella (ryan has nothing except for his humor)
3 - ayshford
4 - lawrence
5 -brown/fitzhenry
6 - marshal
7 - moltzen
8 - galloway
9 - farah
10 - fifita (looked the goods today i say we throw him in the deep end and see if he can swim)
11 - ellis
12 - gibbs (if he doesn't stop giving away penalties and making stupid mistakes bench him with heino)
13 - fulton (we missed him tonight

14 - heinington (need to be benched, maybe the kick in the arse he needs and he's not a lock)
15 - flanagan (looked solid and should improve with more game time)
16 - moors (looked better this week)
17 - payten (if he's back)

Today the game went with possession, if Farah finds touch,if they retained the ball after the intercept things could have been way better.I nearly got heat stroke walking back to my car. We didnt play well but I would not read to much into, just madness to be playing football at 3pm in March.

Interesting. Moltzen almost looks like he's deliberately dogging it at fullback after seeing a far less talented and credentialed Lui annointed with the 7 - a position he (Moltzen) rightfully deserves. He looks deeply disillusioned at the moment - almost daring the club to drop him.

As to Lui, whatever Sheens, Farrah et al are seeing, I guess I'm not smart enough to get it. All I see is an agonisingly slow park footballer - average at best in every department (today recorded a stunning 17 ARM, 93 kick metres and 6 tackles as opposed to Mitchell Pearce: 114 ARM, 244 kick metres and 16 tackles). Hmm...

Gibbs and Fulton seemed to be badly missed and as to Cayless - is it too dumb a question to ask of a first grade NRL francise as to how is it possible to buy a player that is obviously shot? Is any due dilligence performed? Jason was once a fine and powerful player - it's almost embarrassing to see him reduced to this.

As the above poster said - different season, same old sh*t.

1. Ryan
2. Fitzhenry
3. Ayshford
4. Lawrence
5. Tuqiri
6. Marshall
7. Moltzen

8. Gibbs
9. Farah
10. Galloway
11. Moors
12. Ellis
13. Fulton

14. Fifita
15. Payten
16. Heighinton
17. Flanagan

This needs to be our team, we can have Flanagan play the utiliy role whilst Fulton is at his prefered lock. Heighno gets a kick up the arse being benched, whilst Fifita is given a bit of a run in firsts to see how he measures up. I think in the near future both Fifita boys could be running out with us. It'll also be interesting to see how the Schirnack boys hold up as well.
