Eh I agree with both sides of this. Martin has had two pretty average regular seasons now. In fact he's been inconsistent most of his career with the exception of maybe a year or so of form when he became recognised as the best edge in the game around 2023 or so. So has Cleary for that matter. I don't think he's strung more than 2 good games together in the regular season since 2021.

We don't pay either to dominate through the regular season though, they're there to take the side up those couple gears no one has been able to follow for the last half decade. Both should have plenty of time off as they're both banged up and get them in when we need them. Over the next month we just need to grind out some underwhelming wins against average opposition and Garner will contribute more to that job than any forward not named Yeo I'd bet. If it means Martin is fresh and pent up to monster people in the finals then great.
We pay elite players, elite money to Win Premierships. We’ve won four on the trot and he’s played big parts in all of them.

He’s won a Clive for god sakes.

Yeah agree Marto needs to have more impact more often, but if he fires up and produces another big finals series then im ok with it, he basically has to play really well in all our big games.

id like to see Marto come off the bench for a few games leading up to the finals - that will prime him for September IMO

Patea v Henry - you'd rest Patea but it wont be long before Patea is ahead of Henry (if he isnt already)

Henry has been terrible this year. I thought he'd be the better player out of he and Smith 12 months ago. Prime candidate for Perth at this point.

At full strength (if we ever get there), Henry is the odd man out for me.
He's got far too many penalties and errors in him this year.

Even if we're only playing Patea for 25mins, I think it's an upgrade.

My bench would be Schneider, Patea, Papali'i and Garner. That gives us injury coverage across the board, and with Soro, Papa, Marto and Kenny all able to pinch-hit in the middle, we can really mix up our game, and keep the opposition guessing.

Liam Henry has played 41 games. He is a second year rookie and still learning his trade. He has the desire, mongrel and ability to be a great front rower for us. He will get better with experience. Leota was a penalty/error machine early on as well. I think he will develop nicely to replace Leota. Talk of letting him go is crazy. At worst he will be a great bench front rower if Patea and Smith become the long term front row.

Personally, because of his aggression, next year I would start him to take the early intensity and then bring on Patea to carve them up with his offloads and footwork.

Have to agree here, reality is if we get rid of him who replaces him that is better???

Schneider on the bench at full strength? Give me a break, the guy is average. Offers f**k all.

They wouldn't be playing To'o for no reason. We just saw the club rested Cleary and Yeo. To'o looks dusty but maybe not as bad as we call think.

To'o could also pull out before kick off.
