Rd.25 v Raiders

Its not all doom and gloom.
I'm as frustrated as the rest of you guys.
But we have taken the best 2 teams to extra time.
Admittedly we have lost those but gee we made lots of mistakes in the process.
To lose to a field goal rebound length of the field try is just nuts.
Agree.

Top 4 is gone.

But we will be in the 8 - could be as low as 8th - not ideal, but that's fine. I for one want to see what we can do.

We can mix it with the best, we lost to teams 1 and 2 in Golden Point - last night with a dubious penalty and tonight an absolutely freakish ricochet that we are unlikely to see again any time soon.

We can go deep in the Finals from outside the 8. No one will want to play us in September.

We will go up a gear

the concerning thing is that we lost the same way as last week so we havent learnt or we are tiring, which makes a lot of sense considering how we've had to increase intensity due to the poor start.

the wet/dewy conditions played it's part. we are not completing & stupid mistakes are costing us. the composure & grind has waned & it's cost us a top 4. the better team, in control, we let the opposition back in & in the last 2x games they snatch it off us at the end.

we're the team that used to win by eventually getting over the top of the opposition. now it seems we are the ones fading. the titan's game was one where we started unravelling. the signs were there to see.

Based on results, we need to start strategically resting players now. Bizza, Kenny, Leota, Martin, Dyl, heck why not even Nathan. Perhaps we should consider using our #14 to see if that helps. Having intense b2b golden point will surely hurt.

As long as we make the 8, we are a shot. let's just hope we have enough gas.

Why carry a guy on the bench who may only play if there is a injury to the halves, biggest waste of a bench player Schneider. He won't even be here next yr why are we rewarding him.Alamoti could fill a backrow spot or back cover at least he will be utilised.

We won 9 in a row and lost two games to the top 2 teams In extra time. We beat ourselves IMO and I’m glad we got those poor performances out of the way. now we can reset and recharge. still think we cut out the crap and we can win the GF.

I hope Dolphins lose this weekend, so we at least definitely make the 8 and then that's at least something positive after the horror start to the season. We are currently paying for all the losses to shit teams early in the year and appear to a little burnt out from the resurrection job.

We have no home ground advantage so it doesn't matter where we finish 5-8.. just try and avoid playing Melbourne in Melbourne in the semi..

Look guys I'm not a Panther supporter as such as my team is the Dragons but tbh Penrith are a team I like to see go well....your blokes were unbelievably unlucky in your iast 2 games....you beat The Storm imo but were robbed by a bullshit dive that was there for everyone to witness....and secondly tonight you were beaten again my the most arsiest period of play by a team ( Canberra )in the last 10 to12 mins that I've seen in many many years..every rub of the green went their way by the ref or bunker...it was nauseating tbh.....yes Edwards didn't help with the loss of ball (thinks that's 8 in 7 days)....anyhow if the tiniest amount of luck had gone your way you would be 4 points better off and 3rd on thd ladder....anyhow just my 2 bobs worth

So I missed the last 15 mins of the game as I was in the city with the wife watching MJ the Musical.

I just saw a a replay of the winning try and was cursing so much on the train that I nearly caused a scene. WTF were we doing after that rebound? Marto you brain dead moron, who cares if you are penalised 94 metres away from the Raiders try line.
Nathan and Edwards both with horrible misses on Strange. Just pathetic.

Honestly other than a handful of games Nathan has been ordinary as a halfback, on form this year he isn’t a Top 5 halfback.

Edwards is currently LOL. When Fogerty put up a spiral bomb 25 mins into the game and Edwards let it sail over his head I knew he had the yips. I was not surprised to read he had further errors that I didn’t witness.

Dylan had the yips this time last season too. When he's playing injured, he turns to shit.

Not sure that resting or dropping him is the answer. Who knows which version of Laurie we'll get, especially now that he's been tapped on the shoulder.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if Kenny doesn't cop a charge from the MRC. There was a lifting tackle in the second half that should have been penalised. He lifted, twisted, and drove the guy into the ground. Brilliant tackle pre-2015. But not OK these days.

And I hate to say it, but I think the Raiders are the real deal this year.

I think they have more to offer than what they showed last night. Kaeo Weekes and Ethan Strange had me nervous all game.

If they don't get it done this year though, I think they'll slide back fairly fast. Fogarty is a massive loss.

The worry for me is our 3 senior players look lethargic,Edwards cleary and yeo need to step it up or we could be out 1st week of finals.Dogs will be another tough game they have lost couple in a row also and will want revenge.i just hope we get to the semis with everyone on deck regardless of where we finish.Top 4 is gone but we might be able to jag 5th or 6th spot still some big games for a few teams to come.I dont really want to go to suncorp week 1.60k screaming broncos won't be easy.

This is my take on the game.

Penrith didn't play as tough and with the same intensity against the Storm.
D.Edwards costly errors has ruined a top 4 finish. He single handed has cost the last two wins with errors.
Tago had a terrible game. Anytime the ball come near him it made me nervous.

Beating the Storm last week and finishing 4th is a different story. Most likely take on the Raiders. And honestly if played again id back Penrith.

Luton Patea has to be on the bench. He can bust a game open.
Problem now but is you may face the Roosters or a fully fit Brisbane first week and away. Honestly I think both are still extremely dangerous and can make some noise in finals. Ideal would be to play Sharks or Warriors.

It did have me thinking though. Had you stuck into 4th and win last night and the Storm stole 1st and you landed 4th you'd be playing everyone at high intensity and if lost first week may be burnt out.
Now I am thinking it might be beneficial to rest guys the last week and be fresh. If the draw falls favourably you will get the Warriors first week and the Sharks the following. Then a trip to Canberra for a spot in Grand final.
There isn't much between 6 sides imo. But I have the Bulldogs as the team to beat after what I've seen last night. Only fools would write them off. They couldn't go with the Storm early but once they dialed in they cut them to bits. And whilst Hughes will return Pezet is a class replacement.

The Ref, bunker and touchie missed a Hudson-Young forearm to the head of 1 of our players.

The disrespect Edwards is copping is off the charts. The blokes gone to war for us the last 5 seasons, a major part of every premiership, he has the runs on the board to have a few bad games.

It's because he's that guy It's so frustrating. Guy has been safe as a damn bank vault for 5 years then 2019 Dyl shows up out of nowhere.

Also does Cleary have to hand in his Iceman card? Missed the most basic field goal with all the time in the world.
