Ta for the compliment, 2TB, but I'd have to say the best (as in most devoted) 'Bags fan I've ever met is an old digger named Terry who used to come to ALL the games (home and away) and had been doing so since before the war.
He used to admit that he missed a fair few games in the forties, but figured it was probably O.K. 'cos he was busy fighting the Japs in New Guinea.
Last time I saw him was at a Manly Vs Jets match at Brookvale in 2002 or '03. He'd caught the ferry over and walked from Manly to the ground. Not bad for somewhere around 85 (my best guess at his age).
That day he told me for about the third or fourth time (he seemed not to remember or it was just too good a line not to re-use) that he wasn't really a Jets fan.
Seems he'd switched across from Glebe when they went out of the comp in '29 - his Dad had gone for Uni and he'd been too young to know any better, he reckoned.
As usual, I told him I figured we'd forgive him so long as he kept on getting along to a few more games.
I don't believe old Terry's been sighted for quite a while, so I 'spose we'll have to assume the worst.
Yep, he's got sick of waiting for another top-grade premiership and switched across to someone else again.
