Hawkins has never had a game like that in first grade, so it is the outlier. If you watched the game you'll know Manly were beaten through the middle and Hawkins had all the time in the world. Good on him finally getting it right at 26, but in his last start he missed seven tackles. Arthur has never defended that poorly.

Not sure what the argument is back Hawkins is a great backup half. He should be well aware by now that he is probably either a backup in the NRL or a Superleague player these days.

He is a lot better than JA I was a fan of his. I highly doubt JA gets another NRL contract.

We had a bunch of no names and inexperience put a experienced side to the sword with a FB on his day is the most devastating player on the planet.

Its the best regular season win we have had since 2009 under Daniel Anderson.

And it wasn't that we won it was the ruthlessness and professionalism we showed i haven't seen in a long time.

Big call. Part of it was Manly being shyte. We have beaten Penrith and Melbourne in the regular season over the last 5 years so surely one of those is better. Its top 5 I'd say.

A good win for sure last night but a bit surprised by the sudden level of positivity in here.

Sure we beat Manly without Momax but they weren't at full strength, have been out of form of late and Turbo is about half the player he normally is.

Did we look better and are we on the improve? Yes and yes, but there is a long way to go with this team before we should be getting too excited.

We've won 4 of the last 6 (I think). 6 weeks ago I legit did not think we would win 4 games all year. So yeah, lets enjoy the week and talk a lot of shyte. I see us as the next Melbourne. 15 years of dominance.

Jake should be looking to get into coaching. It sounds like he has a good attitude at training. Has been around a few coaches, average though they were. He is a better player than his father was. Maybe he will also be a better coach than his father was.
He could see about spending a few years on minimum contract under Bellamy with an eye on a coaching future. Then move up to coaching one of the Newcastle Rugby League teams or Queensland cup.

My buddies rag on Jake Arthur like many here.
I have to admit, I don't get the hate.
I sort of "sports hate" his dad but that is a bit irrational and based on the fact I don't like his face. He has a dullard face. Which was a negative for our club.
Ryles is already more alpha and brings more personality to conferences and the box when the camera is on him. I can imagine players respecting him whereas BA sort of looks like a snake to me - hence Nathan Brown's calling him out about nepotism (snake like behavior) before getting benched (if that rumor is true). Hahaha.
PS I do actually like snakes. I don't like BA.

What a way to start the weekend. How good is it? The sun is shining and Parra had a good win over the Sea Eagles.

I was most pleased with our defence. In previous years we would have conceded more tries when Manly tried going to their edges. We only conceded two because we had a debutant playing out of position.

As others have mentioned, we seem to be getting better at being resilient. I left the ground last night very happy as I think we are building the foundations for a very competitive style of play. I hope we buy very well for the next season or two.

Yeah the best since round 27 last year. Again, the quality of the opposition is an always a factor. It’s why it’s f**king dumb to make judgements based on one game.
