Ignoring the opposition performance is ridiculous. It’s not like they are going to throw out a team of under 13s. Yes I’d like us to play well and pressure them but if they contend with that pressure and even return it then it’s not going to be a blowout score but it will be a better game for us to develop and fix some deficiencies.

Individually we definitely all turned up to play today, and everyone individually was pretty good.

Newcastle were woeful.

Our defence although not really challenged for most of the game was generally Ok. Although we did allow them to score with only 12 players on the field.

But our structured attack was borderline embarrassing. We scored tries because of the brilliance of a few individuals, and the poor quality of our opponents, not because we had great team play.

I have no idea what we're trying to achieve with our attacking structures, and I'm not sure the players on the field do either.

This won't matter against the quality of the opposition today, but it will get us nowhere when it matters and reminded me too much of the back end of last season. In fact right at this moment all I'm seeing is a repeat of last season.

Individual brilliance alone won't get us beating the other stronger teams in the comp when it matters.

We have half a season to get it sorted out, I'm unsure if we have the coaching staff to rectify the problem though.

Interesting to see how things go if Mahoney is out for a while.

Our attack has been an issue for a while. Apart from the play where Gutherson gets it out to Sivo or a bomb from Moses near the try line on the fifth we don’t seem to have much else. Compare that to the Panthers, Storm, Rabbitohs who always seem to be working towards something in attack:
