Our attack has been an issue for a while. Apart from the play where Gutherson gets it out to Sivo or a bomb from Moses near the try line on the fifth we don’t seem to have much else. Compare that to the Panthers, Storm, Rabbitohs who always seem to be working towards something in attack:
Exactly right. In attack, we are fairly clueluss.

Individually we definitely all turned up to play today, and everyone individually was pretty good.

Newcastle were woeful.

Our defence although not really challenged for most of the game was generally Ok. Although we did allow them to score with only 12 players on the field.

But our structured attack was borderline embarrassing. We scored tries because of the brilliance of a few individuals, and the poor quality of our opponents, not because we had great team play.

I have no idea what we're trying to achieve with our attacking structures, and I'm not sure the players on the field do either.

This won't matter against the quality of the opposition today, but it will get us nowhere when it matters and reminded me too much of the back end of last season. In fact right at this moment all I'm seeing is a repeat of last season.

Individual brilliance alone won't get us beating the other stronger teams in the comp when it matters.

We have half a season to get it sorted out, I'm unsure if we have the coaching staff to rectify the problem though.

Interesting to see how things go if Mahoney is out for a while.
In a tight game, individual brilliance is what it's all about. As for our ability to score points in the finals, we scored eight tries in the finals last year. It was our defence that fell apart once we lost a couple of top 17 edge defenders.

Fair call.

Expected win , and the margin

Now for the tigers who are going for 3 in a row. (Beating depleted dragons and Penrith sides)
Bring them back down to earth , won’t be easy but we should get them.

We might be without Reed, Lussick to start, WSmith to take over after 30 or 50min?

Unless we deliver more options in attack than individual brilliance, our defence isn't strong enough to save us.

If we've got the individual brilliance to score the tries we do, then we should have the individuals to score tries from set structures.

Until that comes, disappointment in Finals will continue.

It's no longer a playing talent issue why we shouldn't be close to winning the comp, it's all about continuing to play poorly as a team, which in many respects is the opposite problem to the Panthers.

If we don't win Finals matches with this squad, it's poor coaching, not a lack of talent.

Our spine is the weakest part of our team. Why wouldn't we struggle to score from shape?

Have we accepted that we are a much better team with Dylan in it but he also is not the type of attacking player that many want him to be? (and might never be)

I’ll take the win against a shit team like the Knights. But I’m struggling to remember the last time we made a line break. Our attack is so clunky. We are making up the numbers if things don’t improve

I agree with all of this. That was a typical down hill ski run, as expected. Based on what I saw today, we'll get found out come finals time, even allowing for the "you can only play what's in front of you" consensus.

You're right, weakest part of our team is harsh. Perhaps weakest spine compared to the other top six teams is more accurate. We just lack the experience and class of the playmakers at the Storm, Rabbits, Chooks and Seagulls. Even Cleary and Koroisau have played (many) more big games than our spine players.

I think what we saw today doesn't prove anything, good or bad.

That's much better.
