Hawkins is actually a very good back up halfback. His kicking game is surprisingly accurate. Lomax just needs to pick his moments, rather than going for the hero play every time.
There were obvious escorts almost every time he went for a high kick the dopes in charge don’t give him any penalties as they see him as elite in the air.

Officiating , like the touchie is just difficult to like across the board.

This season is neither here nor there, we were out of finals contention at half time of round one, so I don’t see the point in even contemplating bringing him in now. But I reckon he’ll do a job next year, even if he is a prick of a bloke.

Of course you don't..

But getting him here early gives him half a year to get used to the system and develop combinations.

Lost it in the first half. Disgraceful.

Great effort to get back into the game but still to dumb to take full advantage. We need to have more than the kick to Lomax every set. Although the amount of times he was run off the ball there should have been a sin bin.

Zac was enormous all game but that blunder at the end just overshadowed it all. Second tackle. Get the quick play the ball and get on with it. We had them going backwards.

We looked a much better team when Papalii was at dummy half. Lussick is done. He is lazy in defence and slow in attack. Hands ain’t the best but I reckon he’s probably a better option than him.

There was half a millimetre in that game. JAC has his foot just a little further to the right on that break and we may have taken that game. Such a shame.

Didn’t get any love from the refs. I saw plenty of stuff that both teams did that only we got pinged for. Purposely not packing the scrum should be a professional foul. The second time it happens someone should be binned.

Ah f**k. I’m sad we didn’t win this. We get this one and we likely don’t get the spoon. Now we are still a chance. We have a shitload of very difficult games coming up and all of them likely to end in either floggings or “fought bravely but just got pipped at the post”.

Don’t get it twisted
We lost to aside that had no one left on the bench, that’s the reason we’re able to get a good run on them. And we still couldn’t finish them off.

Our middle defense in the opening 25 minutes was disgraceful, and I blame it mostly on one’s slow ass brother-in-law
Lussick was poor, no doubt, but Hopgood wasn’t any better. In fact, he had a shocker. Dylan Walker completely exposed his limitations — he’s just not the elite lock some make him out to be. If this is the standard he offers in big games, then the club really needs to think long and hard about his long-term role. Personally, I’d be moving him on and shifting Jack de Belin into the No. 13 jersey come 2026. At least with De Belin, you get toughness, effort, and defensive steel — three things that were sorely missing.

Sad reality is that we will battling super hard to avoid the spoon...
We need to get Ryley Smith, Tuivaiti, Moretti, Moses and Simonsson back asap...maybe even Will Penisini

Pretty funny Gutho said he didn’t think JAC’s foot was out.

Not sure what happened in the first half but it was a tough watch. JR’s spray woke them up. If Lomax holds that ball we probably score and tie it up. One of those “what couldve been” games.

Bye next week, Moses looking to return Rd 20. Hopefully a strong finish to the season.

Some poor defenders were obvious in this game, Lussick, Kelma and Semrani are not NRL level defenders, a couple of them can run the ball hard in attack , but unfortunately have the footwork of someone in wet cemented in defence.

Lussick had his one good game last week, Hands outplays him most times. Actually underlines the need for another better than average 9 for 2026. Williams is a good forward , just not a big enough Body to play middle all the game.
