But it was about mobility in the middle, which is a big part of line speed.

It was more 2nd phase play

We threw a lot more offloads than they did but didn't have the gaping f**ken holes up the middle that they got to run through. They filled gaps and got numbers into the tackle much better than we did.

Just got back from the game. And the team looks like they haven’t been coached. Absolutely hopeless. Unmotivated, directionless, defence and line speed pathetic. What a poorly coached team. Glad they enjoyed the trip up to terrigal. Coach has to go.

Agree totally. Gutherson's effort tonight - in defence at the back, and in attack - was mostly absent compared to what you'd expct of a leader (or even an experienced/senior non-debutante fullback).

Need a change in leadership group for next season - Hodgson (I guess that's what we signed him for?), Matterson, Dylan Brown can take over... would be nice to have one more senior player/leader out wide.

at the game I just looked at Gutho for one set in defence. He wa directing the team in defence from the back and I kid you not every time he directed the team to go one way the broncos went the other way. Every play the ball
He directed the team in the wrong direction. It was a f**king joke.

Still absolutely seething at that bunker call. Reynolds is one of the best floppers in the game. They got it wrong and with 18 to go and the deficit just 10 I think we’d have been hard to stop.

Anyway… there’s certainly an enormous amount of disharmony around the club at present. I’ll be renewing my membership next year. I support the club and to be honest when I think back to the early 2010s even this current side seems a hell of a lot more fun to follow.

Will BA survive? More to the point, are we in a position to pay him out two years from the end of his contract?

People like to knock the board. I personally don’t know enough about who’s who on there but they absolutely got one thing right by not forking out huge money for Reed Mahoney. Based on his form this season, even a past prime Hodgson will improve us in that area.

Opposition sides are killing two birds with one stone and it all revolves around Reed Mahoney:

1. They are doing an outstanding job at singling him out in our defensive line. This is leading to huge post-contact metres, landing on their front, offloads and faster play the balls. This has a secondary effect, leading to my second point.

2. He is busted the whole game and is a deadset catch and pass merchant, completely negating his skill set. It also means the rest of the team need to work harder by retreating further each and every set and have to get into position quicker.

I almost guarantee that we would look better with Rein starting the first 20 of each match. He’s better defensively and can work himself into a standstill knowing it’s likely that it’s all he needs to get through. With the ball, it’s no secret we don’t play expansive early on. The difference in service would be negligible. It will freshen Mahoney and we will see a return of quick darts and better defence.

I hope someone who has the ability to make this change sees what I see. And quick smart before it’s too late.

Same old, same old. I had a bad feeling before tonights game thinking they werent going to handle Reynolds, but honest I didnt expect that scoreline. Seriously Wtf is wrong with them?? P1ss poor attitude, I thought they started ok but after conceding that first Broncos try its like their heads went down. They kept missing tackles, lazy in defence, couldnt handle the Broncos forwards.

It's one thing to offload whens it's so orchestrated and the opppositon just jumps on you and another to pop a ball and have someone grab it just off your hip.
Cartwright is capable of that.
Too much of the same body shapes and tuck it under the arm and run hard. There is no variety Pou. Your a smart man you know we need to change it up and have some different styles.
I often am astounded how dumb some of these blokes are by running back into the ruck and not one or two wide.
We constantly get outclassed outcoached and out enthused.
Our ruck defence is horrendous. It's the start of all the problems.
