Rd25: Parra v Penrith GAME DAY THREAD @ Cbus stadium 3/9/21

no disrespect at all. He would be doing the exact same thing if it was at bankwest. He’s explained his reasons all week. 6 players would be unavailable this week anyways, they are not rested.

They have been away from home for 6 weeks. Thats why is i said non covid universe. Its just as easy to go and rest everyone with the game at a neutral venue as well.

I can assure you the team sent out tonight would have been a touch stronger if it was at Bankwest. Some would have been rested but not all. The club and fans wouldn't be happy as members and corporates paying for premium tickets to watch a reserve grade side run out.

He would have done it last week in Melbourne if the draw was normal or rested a couple more against cowboys.

Anyway if we didnt lose any home games and move up to QLD we might have won the Canberra game and not been in a slump at the end of the year and made the 4.

While hopefully of the greatest upset of the decade, panthers are obviously favourites to giving us flogging considering we are basically fielding a NSW cup side……

So what would be considered a decent effort from us?

I reckon something like being competitive for the first 30 or so and something like 42 to 16 wouId be a pretty good result…..

Reckon our starting pack isn’t to bad…..fairly mobile, some aggression/skill, decent work rate. Plus all trying to push into the top 17 next week (Cartwright/lussick only certainty)

plus our our wingers should ensure we start our sets ok.

however our spine could struggle to finish our sets, and some players will lack match fitness. May struggle defensively on the edge with our halves / Oldfield. Additionally our bench lacks some forwards. How will Russell/Sam be used? Reckon Smith will move into hooker and Russell into the spine for a decent part of the game.
