I still feel the A league makes us worse. Talented kids where off to Europe at 15. Now they piss around learning poor techniques and habits in Australia till 18-20 at an important time of development.

But why cant kids learn here? Not so long ago our training was talked up. Why cant we have top training techniques etc? Werent big clubs aetting things up here for development? Eg Man City

Where has it gone wrong? Money? Covid? Management? ... have the wheels not actually fallen of? ... were we never sustainably good? Did we just have a purple patch?

The best ones are still poached by European scouts, especially if they have EU or UK passports. Maybe there's fewer of those these days?

Laurie under the high ball reminds me of Perham. I see hes back at fullback in the 2s this week. Certainly suits his running and playmaking game. Lets hope he is putting in lots of practice under the high ball. He could be a great 14 if he gets that right but personally Id prefer a running 9 on the bench.
