Ryles indicated in the post game presser that the backline we ran out with yesterday is what they have decided “works best for our club and game” and I agree.

actually think Russell looked as good as he has an comfortable at centre, and Penisini looked back in his groove on his preferred side. Glad to see Ryles and the coaching team are willing to put their hands up and change the plan if it’s not working how they thought it would.
Just have to hope Lomax doesn’t have a hissy fit about playing wing.

Great to see we wore that heritage jersey again yesterday.

That should be our home strip every home game.

It looks way better then the home strip they have designated for us this year.

It looks more parramatta and blue/gold
💯 agree..the predominant blue is bulldogs-esque...throw it in the bin

Good news that's been said out loud, but probably should have been like that a month ago.

Yep, giving Lomax a free range winger role - like Blacklock in the old days, and Hayne a little bit before he shifted to fullback - should work. Stick the #4 jersey on him to satisfy the ego or the previous comments about wanting to play right centre - but it now gives certainty to the other guys about their role.

Penisini is a right centre and nothing else. Russell is fine enough at (left) centre and can now develop his combos with Addo-Carr. Looks like the club think Simonssen is primarily a winger given his selection there in Cup - but he's first man up to NRL if there is any backline injury (though it was good to give Samrani a taste of firsts when we had multiple blokes out).

I reckon it was a lot easier for Ryles to let Lomax make himself look a fool to start with i suppose on this centre issue.

Last week's brookie performance was the final straw especially some of those defensive decisions.

Agreed, it should always be the home jersey, get rid of the rubbish main one they have now.

Surely Simonsson is still a better option at left centre than Russell and going further a better option than penisini at right centre...
Not sure what his stats say defence wise but hands down better attacker than both

Yep, I think on the basis of last year's form Simonssen would get a crack at centre, on either side (especially given Penisni's form to date this year).

But if the club saw him as an NRL centre, you'd think he'd be selected in Cup as a centre, to round out his recovery from injury and prime him to come into what have been described as new sliding defensive systems at centre?

Or maybe they knew all along that Lomax would end up on the wing, and need a replacement there during origin period - and barring injuries to anyone else, Bailey's it?
