My point is that Ryles is being given pretty kid glove treatment so far. There’s been no improvement so far this year; we actually look as bad as we have for many years, and our defence has somehow gotten worse.

Look I’m not sold on Ryles (and especially his staff for that matter) but the reason he has leeway right now is because he’s a rookie coach in his first year at our club & has initiated a rebuild. If we’re still looking shithouse by the end of the year/start of next year then I’ll be worried but to be quite frank with the amount of experience that left and Moses’ injury I didn’t expect us to be any good this year. IMO most of our worst performers are leftovers from the BA era that need to be cleaned out - not so much because of Arthur but because we need to start afresh.

I agree with all of that. My concern at the moment is that it’s a very big if as to whether we will look better in a reasonable period of time. Ryles said all the right things in preseason, but so far none of that is translating to results. It remains to be seen whether it ever will.

They are trying but young, inexperienced and learning while playing. Raiders have recruited well and brought these players through over a few years, we had a number of older players signed previously that jammed our teams and we are paying for it .

Until we can use the pipeline that has been constructed below the NRL , we will suffer as did Penrith before their juniors came through, our signings and extensions from 2021 at NrL level has been well below the rest of the comp. Seeing the results as we signed project players who are forced to learn while playing in NRL.
