Worse loss i can remember in my years of following the Eels mate. That was disgusting .
Moses the captain returned 5kgs overweight. Jnrs is 10kgs overweight. Our leaders. Questions must be asked. Putrid at home with season on line to dish that out. Im gutted.
Is it any wonder we look unfit when we lost our S&C after 1 season as he went back to NZ and replaced him with a wooden Spoon winning head of performance from the Knights in Mathew Jay.

He was at the Tigers in 2022 another team he won the spoon at then last year was at Newcastle

Like how high are our standards with these important roles we are getting scraps from the sides that come last.

We could afford to spend a shitload on lawyers with Lomax but cant spend a dollar on any quality with backroom and support staff.

Go out and get the best one.

Btw for what its worth Blair Mills who was our S&C guy last year is now back in Super Rugby and the team he is at is leading that comp.

I know we started slow but he had the team in peak physical condition by the back end of the year.

How embarrasing is it at the ground when they start playing the Defence chant over the loud speaker at the ground.

I am not sure if its picked up on the TV.

But ill tell you at the game its as cringe as anything i have heard

It even the shocking Parra in the Tunnel from a few years ago.

Then you have the Parra chant being played on the loud speaker at the most random times.

Wtf are we doing with some of this game day nonsense.

We are not the NFL.

Ryles has to decide. Is he the guy or is Riley.
I love Riley's effort but he is never going to be elite. TDS shoes glimpses of elite and dogshit. He isn't mid 20s he is basically rookie so back him to come good. Giving him 20mins a game is rubbish (bar today)

This year is a absolute f**king disaster. I don’t know if we can turn it around. We almost need a full rebuild.

Walker and JAC are great but they are both slowing. Neither are at their peaks. JAC is fast but not like he was. Walker just can't tackle and nobody calls him out. His defense is shit. Unsure why you start a defensive liability. Usualy you keep them on the bench if they are attacking weapons and inject them when the opposition look tired. It's odd coaching mostly becuase it worked before. So why change it? The bench was set. It worked. Tuivati and Walker provided impact as did Doorey who Morreti has replaced which is or was his equal untill this season.

Moses has come back fat and what 32? He had a few good origin games when the forward pack went nuts. Luai looked just as good. Done nothing since 2022 bar that and a few good passes here and there. That's almost 4yrs ago. But we laugh at Tommy Turbo.Atleast when Tom plays its a 8/10 nearly every game

Jnr - 5-10kgs overweight. Our leader. With a fairly silly hair cut.

Kelma and Kk have atleast trimmed down but both are inconsistent and on average poor. A good game is 1 brain fart. We are conditioned to think thats excellent. Usually both give you 2 or 3 a game with one flash of brilliance and guys some on here think they elite.
Neither can defend, both lazy and poor kick chase. In other words useless.
And you have to question why are our talented Juniors are regressing. Penisini is a shadow of his promise, Morretti looks basically done. Both burst into the scene and had so much daw talent.
Then you target De Bellin to save you. He is almost 40 and runs like an old mole. What other club would of signed him..None. Nobody wanted him.

What the f**k are they doing to our club.

I am still behind Ryles but I am seeing cracks and they are getting wider by the week. If he doesn't fix them soon then his ship will sink.

That's when we got to go for WALLACE.
Agree with all of it except I am no longer behind Ryles. I was off Kearney early and see exactly the same from Ryles. I wanted Holbrook or Hannay because at least they had coached before. Ryles is full of corporate talk and no substance

But Sarantinos and Mon flew to the UK to bring us back ideas of how to play music at games and stuff.

The stupid defence thing falls flat when nobody in the crowd chants along with it and when the team is incapable of muscling up defensively anyway.

Like I said earlier, yesterday was my first trip to CommBank since before Covid, and it was the flattest crowd I’ve ever been part of. Streams of people were understandably leaving pretty early in the second half, and it was just as dead an atmosphere as the performance being shown on the field. It really felt like the whole club is in a funk.

They should have started the defence chant when we had the ball attacking in their 20m.

The audio guys at stadium have never had a feel for the game in all the 85 years I’ve been attending games

That could explain the amount of injuries, blokes carrying injuries and looking unfit.

I was wondering what the hell that was and people around me got annoyed by it. You wonder who sits in a room full of people and comes up with these ideas.

To your point a lot of ideas they've come up have been atrocious. Trying to get other ideas from other sports don't work It's bad enough how they're performing on the field but off the field its terrible.

Although I like how they've brought back the Parra chant during the game, instead of some bloke tapping the mic because they're too lazy to get the audio out, this should really be brought back as the main song when they run out. I cannot get motivated to Enter Sandman. The Parra Parra chant brings back so many childhood memories and they should still keep it. I feel like they've disrespected one of our great supporters Jon English

And speaking of disrespectful, you mentioned that Parras in the tunnel bit, I remember one MC, assuming he was sacked, tried to rap to the audio just as they were leading out. The family of Denis Anderson wouldve been fuming.

I dont mind the massive Eels Logo they bring out just before they run out.

Though i suspect the novelty will wear off very quickly.

Parra Power to win is the best pump song you can get. I have no idea why they got rid of it.

Massive respect to all of you for going to the game or just watching it on TV. I mean that genuinely because I refused to watch the game feeling that it was winnable yet we would get flogged on account of 1) the injury toll and 2) people felt it was winnable to the point that mid-week we were favourites. Whenever Eels think they have a chance they blow it, big time.

Reading through your commentary I get the impression that we were a rabble due to a lack of any team cohesion because we were bereft of any team spirit.

For what it's worth, my perspective is that after 6 rounds we are travelling better than 2025 with 2 wins vs 1, and the loss to the Tigpies a moral victory in that we scored more tries.

I have heard some stats about how many points the Eels have conceded but that should be put in the context of the overall increase in points per round 2026 vs 2025 due to the 6 again rule change. With talent in the comp thinning due to the fact there simply isn't enough to go round combined with the idiotic rule change teams are wilting due to exhaustion. If you're down on troops, as the Eels are, it's a certainty you'll get a flogging (we lost two more in the game, 1 after 10 minutes).

It bears noting that there was 100 points more scored this round than the same last year.

I find those scorelines similar to the way that Harry Grant gets reffed: ridiculous and not entertaining.

Long gone is the tight low scoring contest. The modern era NRL is contact tip footy. If you like watching tip footy you'll like the 2026 NRL.

The Warriors vs Scum was a titanic contest in that the ref did all he could to get the Scum home, Harry was allowed to absolutely genocide the play the ball yet somehow the Warriors dug deep and tackled themselves into a mighty win which they'll pay for in the weeks to come.

Here is a break down of 2025 vs 2026 points per round:

Round 2 was an anomaly in that it was 9 down on 2025 but geeze the rest made up for it with increasingly larger scorelines. We're on the climate change hockey stick curve now as teams are decimated through injury and fatigue.

2026 vs 2025 is below:

I know this is small comfort to desperate fans but the reality is we have been decimated through injury and in the 2nd year of a re-build. The NRL's rule change is causing massive scorelines where "tight contests" are 60+ points. Until the NRL brings in winner's kickoff things will continue in this parabola of increasing points per game.

My conclusions are that attack is the best defense. Teams have to score when they have possession more than they have to defend when not in possession. It's our turnovers in possession that leads to fatigue in our defense.
