I'd take Katoa from the Fins instead..
He’s a pure 7, so unfortunately doesn’t fit what we need.

The club has serious cash for 2026 , it will be more a question of who is available and position suit. Believe they may be able to secure players early , they are looking hard and Ryles has several targets at each required position, as well as encouraging our own younger players. Hope it’s as interesting g as they make it sound.

You may be right about Guymer, and there's nothing wrong with a "meh" career like that - loads of them about, and needed in any NRL squad.

You may also (eventually) be right about Galvin... but my money is still on him staying a Tiger - and playing in top grade and finals football - until end of 2026 when his contract ends, and he might consider joining us plodders for the cash.

if it was cash he would've resigned with the Tigers, they offered 5.5 million over 5 years

Believe the odds are that he changes clubs at the end of this season after negotiations , Avenger is in the money from what I hear, who knows as its rugba league after all.

Our edge forwards and centres offer no threat with the ball. We’re shifting it well when walker comes on but once we get wide we only have Iongi or a quick shift to the fox. That was the difference between the teams. Once Lomax is back Simmo should go to the centres. Flip of a coin who gets dropped. Russel has a go but limited ability, Penisini is totally out of form.
Our edge forwards might have few missed tackles but they get caught out in defence which doesn’t count as a miss. Sometimes it’s the players around them or us committing too many to the ruck or blind side. But they aren’t helping their cause.
Agree with Hopgood starting at 9. Shouldn’t be hard to learn how to pass as a professional athlete, take the sting out of the game in the first 20.
Samrani should keep his spot on the bench, slow as an outside back but decent pace for a forward. Will only improve.
Our young players will keep improving but we need to sign some players, especially for next year. Plenty of money to play with but very little available on the market.

Also, can understand Matto (and carty) not getting a run if we had some class juniors coming through in their positions. Unfortunately we don’t. It’s a pretty weak comp and if we could string a few wins together and jag a few mid season signings we could push towards the 8.
I don’t believe in just writing it off as a rebuild yet, Matto should be in the team

Agreed. I can understand Cartwright, but Matto at least is putting in and from all accounts performing well in NSW Cup. Should definitely be in the team.

I think this is why Ryles is persisting with youngsters, some of whom who aren't ready.

Iongi
Penisini
Russell
Smith
Guymer
Kautoga
Tuivaiti

All under 23. Samrani turned 23 in January. Penisini, Russell and Kautoga turn 23 later in the year. They'll all be better for the run.

The only bloke on the other team who was under 23 tonight was Stonestreet.

Was at a members function with a few other excellent Eels LU brethren.

Our fearless leader Jimmy (Timmy Mannah) Sarantios was there.

At a function Jimmy boy repeatedly dropped the F bomb around women and kids. As someone who was brought up not to swear around women I thought it was utterly embarrassing that our CEO would drop the F Bomb at a club function. What a clown.

Well a 10 point loss ain't so bad and we should've been closer on the scoreboard. Apart from some missed tackling and poor handling, I thought we did ok and I feel we aren't a team at the bottom. Things can get better

As for the referee and bunker, the NRL really needs to step in and investigate why these officials are so incompetent that it's totally corrupt. I'm not saying we were robbed but seriously the decisions tonight were like brown paper bag stuff. I bet Ryles and the players are thinking the same but obviously can't say it.

Just made it home. Unfortunately we didn’t get a result but I felt the effort was certainly there. That penalty awarded against Bails was utterly ridiculous. Would’ve been a 20m restart and a 7 tackle set and who knows. Enjoyed meeting up with @King-Gutho94 and @hineyrulz and discussing hair follicles of the current squad over a few coldies!
Did your young bloke get some autographs at least mate??

It almost feels like we won tonight meeting you blokes despite the result.

We tried our guts out but a few calls and some moments went against us.

Upwards and onwards next week against the Phins

Bloke was liking posts saying Ryles can’t pick the right team… he’s Buckleys to none to play first grade at this club again
When matto pulled out of one of the games, Ryles said that it would be a while before he will get back into first grade
