I see no point in adding to a discussion that goes no where fast and results in everyone getting hot under the collar and throwing childish insults, when in reality, it is something I have neither control nor ownership of.
chicken!
eel this has been a hot topic in our house which is home to 4 rooster fans and a soccer mad Welshman that wouldn't know one tip of a league ball from the other. while our opinions all vary a bit in different areas, I can categorically say that we support a lift in the salary cap. personally I dont agree with ultimations or the favorite analogy at present, the gun being held to the head by the roosters but I dont believe my club wants this to go into the courts either, nor that it will. As a nurse and not a lawyer, manager etc I have no idea what the answer is to actualy make the nrl take notice of clubs (and it is clubs) that want the salary cap increased but I dont believe my club has gone about it the best possible way. However, as stated previously, I do support a rise in the cap be it through concessions, dispensations, a change in outside sponsorship arrangemnts etc. There has been argument of players being greedy and that they are paid a lot more than most of us but I don't begrudge these payments at all. A career in any professional sport is a short one and only a limited few will take up wellpaid positions in the media and such and not always the best men for the job. The majority will move on to other careers away from league, retrain etc and when you look at the toll playing league at the level they do will have on their bodies in later life, the salaries they are paid are little compensation for the chronic pain many will suffer because of the impacts their bodies have sustained through their short careers. so I'm soap boxing here but I just wanted to draw attention to the fact that many of these mens livelihoods and quality of life will be shortened by their current careers so paying them a little more, across the board if clubs can afford it isn't a bad thing. I guess I have looked at this through red, white and blue tinted glasses from a completely different perspective than most but it'll add another argument dimension to those with an aggression nature.
Peace all and Happy New year.
And look. some gramma and minimal spelling mistakes. Ozzie, lift your game. ;-)
