I guess Manly 2011 really showed everyone how a team struggles by not making any big name signings for the year.....oh, hang on....

Manly were written off by many at the start of this year for the fact they did not sign anyone of significance.

dumb comparison as they didnt need to fill any voids left by having their star fullback and center leave....their squad was stable from the season before as was ours between 2009 and 2010 leading up to our premiership win.. they had cherry evans waiting in the wings who was already showing better form thus were happy to let Hodkinson leave..

lets see what manly would do if they were to lose Brett Stewart and Steve Matai in the one off season... i doubt they wouldn't enter the player market to try and sign a marquee player... :roll::roll:

Arguing that the 2012 squad is incomplete or lacking depth, does not = an argument that we should go take that 12 month gap-year in europe..... it just means we will have to beat the odds, and have a lot of luck with form and injury to make & complete in the finals.

Lets see what happens with Moltzen, id rather someone who is a potential half over the other guy being mentioned Dugen, id love some creative options and an alternative to relying on Soward every time.

And thats where id rather see our money spent. Thats why I was hoping we could get a cheap Carney and take a punt, but not to be.

^ +1 this, can we stop with the 50 references to Manly, they are a different club in a stage of their development cycle. They nearly made it in 2010, and were fortunate to have had a glut of absolute superstar kids to fill in with their experienced players... guys like Hopoate, Foren, Cherry-Evans etc.. I take solace in the fact that they will not be able to keep such a young 6 & 7 combination together for much longer without having to let other players go.

Having said that, we still would have beaten them if we had played them in the 2011 finals.. ahwell thats footy.

Hornby's long kicking game is pretty decent, I think people have very selective memories.

I think if we have Stanley playing fullback, Soward at 6, Hornby at 7 and King/Fein/Rein at 9 that's more than enough kicking options.
