Reasons Why QLD will lose game 2 2013

My big concern about tomorrow night is Cronk. I don't think he's played for about three weeks, so may be a rusty. All things considered I think Queensland will come back, have a better start courtesy of referees being aware of the tactics of NSW, and Queensland to win by a narrow margin.

Referees will become aware of NSW tactics? What tactics? Lol. NSW forwards outran yours by over 200 metres in game I. Face facts and stop deluding yourself with subjective garbage.

I think the game is becoming faster, more powerful and more dynamic. The QLD team over the last "few years" has some of the greatest footballers I have ever seen but they are at the end of the careers. The next generation hasn't come through which is hardly surprising given their success and loyalty to the guys who gave them that success. But you look at guys like Fifita, Merrin and Woods - QLD doesn't have anything to compete with that up front. Tariq Sims is the next one. Throw in hard nuts like Gallen and Watmough and you have huge metres. It's very hard to contain.

In years gone by the QLDers have always broken even in their pack and let the backs cut them up. Even shit footballers like Bella, Larsen and Moore were able to draw even against far more talented opponents. But they didn't in Game1 , probably won't in Game 2 and almost definitely won't in Game 3. Papaali is a very good selection but they need guys like McGuire and Taumalolo to come good.

Truth is they have slim pickings in the pack. Look at the current QLD team. Packed full of second rowers because they have no dynamic props. A few years ago, NSW had the same problem, thus the selection of Gallen at prop. But the worm has well and truly turned. Stick a Graham or a Burgess in that team, and it's a different story.

Well when you consider how Qld's key players performed in the last Origin match, added to the fact none of them have really shone in the weeks since for their NRL clubs, you'd have to hope that at least a couple of them rediscover their previous level of game tomorrow night...
:lol::lol:
Don't know about you but I saw a Massive difference in JT's game in SOO(Injured & sick) & the Cows v dragons game .

I am very confident he will tear NSW to pieces.

Yeah I'm sure the refs have identified that the NSW forwards ran and hit harder, and are working on ways to negate such cheating. You ignorant fool.

Maybe start DCE at 7 & bring CC off bench to play the lock/roving role he did (very successfully) a few yrs ago.

 Not sure you can really compare his effort v an understrength and very much out of form Dragons side to tonight's blockbuster. Just like game 1, NSW need to get in his face and run plenty of traffic his way.

The point I was making & it appears to get lost on NSW fans is JT was nowhere near 100% fit.
He was closer to about 30% if that,He couldn't even kick.
As for the Dragons game he was 100% fit or very close to it.
& it showed. It doesn't matter what game he is in ,he always tries his hardest, always trying to win.
But you cant do much when injured.

If you don't think that was a factor in NSW winning ,then you are kidding yourself.
NSW wont have that same advantage tonight.

He can only play what's in front of him - and he carved them up, with a hand in just about every point the cowboys scored. The point being made is that Thurston is obviously in a much better space physically, and mentally than he was in Game 1.

Excatly.NSW fans are ignoring the fact he was useless in game 1.
Not because he was outplayed or rushing defence, or any other reason to do with what NSW did.

I completely understand what you & Grimesy are saying, I'm just saying-fully fit or not, Thurston won't (or he shouldn't, at least) get the time & space the Dragons gave him a couple of weeks ago. I fully expect him to come out and play a blinder, you could count on one hand the number of below-par games he's played for Qld. NSW have to absolutely crunch him at every opportunity.

i see 2 weaknesses in the nsw side that should be exploited by the 7 times champions, if they are on tonight.
in the first game, tamou and fifita laid the platform with good go forward. i think both fifita and woods playing their first suncorp origin games brings a much different feel to this game, they could be much weaker.

also in the first game, hayne and fergo were so safe and strong from the back. i dont see the combined inexperience of dugan and merritt bringing the same.

qld by 10 and in control for all the second half of the game, thats my tip.

In all honesty, doesn't matter how well Thurston/ Cronk play, if NSW forwards dominate then they won't get very many opportunities to pose a threat. And you have to say that, as it stands, NSW have got the superior forward pack...

1. Poor forwards

The fact that Papali, a below average raiders forward was picked shows how raw the QLD forward ranks are. Shilling ton and Harrison were disposed of without even a second thought, just like Taylor was previously. There is a revolving door around these forwards but none of them have the quality like Bird, Gallen, Lewis, watmough (Choc).

2. Slater

Slater is no longer the best fullback, that belongs to Inglis now. And while slater plays origin he is actually hampering the QLD teams ability to win. Inglis looked lost at centre in game 1 and will be worse in game 2 if he plays at centre. Slater has to go to the bench.

LOL

This thread should be called 'Why am I asking to get hammered?'
