Rebecca Wilson at it again

I must admit to feeling a ambivalent upon hearing of the death of Rebecca Wilson.
I certainly did not agree with a lot of the things she wrote but that is what makes living in this great country
worth fighting for. You can completely disagree in forceful terms with another person and get on with life.
There is nothing to gained by trampling on the memory of someone when when they are gone no matter how much you disagreed with them when they were alive, in fact it's pretty classless to do so and some of the people on here who have been posting some pretty rank comments should really take a good hard look at themselves.
There is a husband and 2 kids who are without a mother and wife today and that in my book is sad and deserves some respect. RIP

Rumour has it she was sick for a while. So I guess I'd like to put that out there.

My sources tell me her funeral will be some time early next week.

I am hearing talk that her column will be taken by someone who will raise a lot of eyebrows.

I honestly don't understand why people offer their fake sadness to someone they had no respect and outright distaste, if not hate, for.
Are you actually sad, in any way? Emotional dishonesty doesn't make you a better person. Gotta get them internet points.

It's a combination of modern faux outrage culture and narcissism.

I said a couple of days ago that I wouldn't wish her dead, I'm just not that sort of person no matter how much I hated her. But let's not be disingenuous here, we all despised her for her efforts for that rag... You don't get absolved of your sins because you kick off. People aren't toeing in because she was a saint, she engaged in unscrupulous and unconscionable behaviour as a journalist and particularly in the information age, people have long memories because it is so easy to bring up anything that gets put to print now.

It's f**ked for her family but really she made the rod for her own back because in a manner of speaking she lived by the sword and will now die by it. Unfortunately for them, they will be incessantly reminded of the shithouse legacy she left behind. That is her doing.

I've seen people on twitter wishing death upon living people, for the heinous crime of criticising a dead person. Air must be a bit thin up on that high horse.

When I found out the news this morning, the first thing I thought of was this thread.

None of her work was of any value.

I'm glad I won't have to listen to her on SEN1116 anymore.

I thought of her as an almost cartoon like villain in terms of her New Ltd roll. Almost like the face of New Ltd's revenge on the NRL.

She was head of the Super Leagues PR machine. Then a grubby gossip munger.

I did read some of her articles when I felt like getting worked up. So thats a compliment to her.

It's kinda like the reverse outrage for the young lefties these days
