Recruitment & Player Retention

the more i think about the peachey loss, the more i get really p*ssed off

this is a major recruiting stuff up, how did we let this happen?!

peachey is going to absolutely kill it next year in that young panthers side!

and we will be left dribbling on ourselves at what could have been

so bloody dumb

Not sure whether Peach will kill it next year, yes he has been playing great in NSW cup which is always help.

The 2 games in FG against Canberra looked great with the chip and chase this was an open game when he was on and very suited to this.

Against Souths it was a grind and was not suited at all.

Given he will have full off season he should bulk up, but how he performs who knows, the panthers will have Soward in team he has to adjust and until he does could cause the team to be somewhat out of sorts.

We can only wait and see

Your good deal was still more then what you were planning for.

Its not necessarily about cap, the club still needs to have the cash.

I find it hard to believe that the sharks wouldn't match the Panthers offer for Peach if they could afford too?

The Penrith deal for Peachey is about what most people (who have a clue) would consider pretty reasonable for a player of his potential.

I'm at a loss as to why the sharks woukdnt match it? Unless there are Money issues Cap or Actual money.

If all the incentives you put into the contract get paid Peachey will earn more next year than Andrew Fafita.
I know who I'd rather have.
You paid overs.
We drew a line in the sand.

I'd have loved to have kept Peachey.
But you don't get into a bidding war with that kid of money for a guy who's played an hour of NRL.
We can cover him quite comfortably.

I can confirm we could of matched Penriths offer, but would of held us up with the backs we want to sign. Flanno made a choice, try scorers, or a kid who has played 50 minutes of football. He went the way which has upset some people.

If his name was Tyrone Smith, we wouldn't care either.

I agree.

everybody is crying for backs ...then a young kid that is too small for the position he plays leaves and everybody freaks out ...some even suggest playing him at centre.
Losing Blake Ferguson was ten times worse IMO.

They may well have paid overs in some people's eyes but if they believe in his potential, they may think they got a bargain??

We didn't value him as much. Time will tell who is the winner there?

I'm sure you are basing that statement on footy ability alone. If so, I wholeheartedly agree.

I'd say the club weighed up the dickhead factor & decided he wasn't worth it. Good choice I'd suggest, after the events of the last week & previous episodes.

If he hits those incentives then then he will be playing bloody good football.

Fifita is a very good player, but at the end of the day, he is only a prop.

Who was signed instead of Peach?

I don't see him playing more than 10 games next year. He will cut 1 or 2 teams apart but will be dominated in the others. Will play off the bench and won't play enough to activate the clauses in his contract.

We have a centre all but signed. Seeing if another one can get a release, and 2 wingers very close.

Also, a forward has agreed to our terms, but has received an offer from another club, so who knows.

But going down the avenue of try scorers, we need the,. If we sign no one, then I will spew about Peachey.

Trav robbo wouldn't come back and I doubt that Reece would either.

Trav needs to be offered a spot in the 3 or 4 as a carrot.

I'm happy with that decision - now let's just hope we can actually sign some quality backs!!

Signed:
