One thing I wanted to add

Teams below us are recruiting big names e.g. Manly, Parra
Team above us are losing players to sides like Manly and Parra but they still be a better side than us without those palyers

Solutions - We should go out and get some more talent. The way we are going, we may improve next year, but sides below may catch up on us, and hence will destroy our plan to be a mainstay in the top 8 for the next few years

Why the **** would we want another centre???In Dene Halatau,Bronson Harrison and Dean Collis we have 3 of the hottest centre prospects in the game.Since you can only play 2 centres, obviously 1 of these fellas is already going to miss out,why the **** would you want to leave 2 of them out of the team???

i dont think we need to many recruites, i would rather get the younger guys time in 1st grade and not loose them to other clubs so they can come back and bite.

Yes Pritchard IMO is the only one we need to go after.

We have plenty of young talent in the backrow and the centre's

If you think Halatau is a hot centre prospect, you must be kidding.

Compare him to the Gidley, Lewis, Monaghan and Gasnier, where is he placed??

Halatau is a good young player and will be solid for the rest of his career, and may eventually play for NZ, but he aint 1st tier.

Harrison and Collis, havent seen too much to comment, but Harrison looks like a lock to me

Halatau has had wat a handfull of STARTING centre and from what i have seen from him the best is yet to come.

The time in the backrow as made him hit the line hard and fast give him time and he will be braking the line at will

I have expressed this opinion a few times, but i`d like to see us recruit in preference:
1.Frank Pritchard
2.Michael Ennis
3.Carl Webb or Michael Henderson or Josh Cordoba
4.Jamie Feeney
5.Trent Clayton or Matt Gruszka

no he not the class of Lewis and Gasiner YET

He hasnt had the game time these guys have had, yes these guys have been stand outs from there first game. But Halatau as i said before has only been Starting in the centre's for the past couple of weeks and i dont belive he has had a bad game during this time. If any1 played alright against dragons it was him. He didnt give up thats what i like bout him that spirt and IMO that will take him into the class of lewis and Gasnier

Most teams have at least one superstar, some have more.

How many do we have ? Prince ? Skando ? Hodgo ? Satts ? Yes they are good first graders. But you wouldnt say these guys are part of the elite group of players.

Our youngsters are potential champions. Marshall, Halatau, Harrison, Fulton, Collis could be anything.

Do we go out and buy a champion or do we sit and wait for these guys to develop ?

Every current superstar of the game had another there teaching them the ropes or was part of a winning culture which helped them develop into the champions they are now.

I suppose thats what Sheens/Noyce get paid for. To make these decisions.
I hope they make the right choices. [-o<

if we become a bigger force in 05 then you will see the young guys developing more. The biggest and hardest part of become a "superstar" IMO is that c word

Confidence

And Gr8_1 i belive we sit and wait well That My Belif

Another thing.

I wish the club made the right decisions in 2000 when they went out and bought a team.

Who is left from those so called superstars they paid big bucks for ?

I know this is old news. But the right decisions need to be made now. We need to go forward not revist past mistakes.

[-o&lt, post: [/quote"] Very well said.I just reckon to throw them all in at the deep end. Most of these youngsters had illustrious juniour rep careers and know whats required of them to make it to the top.The sooner they are playing 1st grade on a regular basis, the sooner they will reach their potential,it`s as simple as that.Blokes like Elford,Wilson,O`Neill,Senter ,Mears,Buettner and Graham have no improvement whatsoever left in them. All they can do is get worse.Filter them out now before it`s too late!!!

IMO i think that we leave one bench spot open for the younger guys let them get some time in 1st grade. time in 1st grade=Confidence=Talent=WINNING

I suppose in 2002 the Panthers had all there young players in and didnt go to well. Those players developed in 2002 went on and won the comp in 2003.

Can anyone see Sheens getting rid of players such as the ones stated in the previous post and replacing them with the young guys ? Or should I ask is he game enough to do it ? Or will politics dictate what he does. Sheens always said he will develop the young guys slowly, bringing them in now and then. Is it time for him to change his plan ?

I dunno. .
I think its time for a beer. To much thinking. :alcho:

The Panthers are a prime example of how young players can improve dramatically from one year to the next once given responsibility!

I believe Halatau,Harrison and Collis all have the talent to be the equal if not better than the likes of Gidley,Lewis,Managhan and Gasnier.Halatau in particular showed a heap of heart in the way he played last week.He was the only constant danger to the Dragons. Not bad in a team that got outplayed as bad;y as we did!

How old is Halatau and how good were those Giley's and Gasnier's and the same age. Probably not far off what Halatau is now.
