Proud of the boys yesterday with a very brave effort against 14 men. Everyone wrote them off and with everything against them pushed the Dogs to golden point and a ref's assistance to make it easier for them to kick a field goal. The boys had a hell of a lot of defending to do and to only let in 2 tries is pretty awesome. If you look at the stats at the end of the game it just seems unbelievable how it ended up in golden point. Attack needs a bit of work but it's game 1 for Atko and his kicking game is pretty impressive. With more games him and Flanno will get better and better. 1 line break all game is not going to help and playing most of the game in their half won't help either but they will get there.

How Suli getting smashed and then going off for a HIA is called a loose carry, which the Dogs scored straight after and yet the dogs guy loses it cold and no loose carry but called a steal to gift them a penalty 30 seconds from fulltime. No consistency and dead set robbery.

Also noticed during the game that doggies players complain every tackle that something has happened to them in the tackle, just to get officials in 2 minds

Thought the same myself .....glad there's not a penalty for getting your goolies compressed....blokes would be walking round rubbing them after every tackle ....not a pretty spectacle.....its that where the term crushed nuts came from

We hung in there and were very gritty. We’ve seen this before under Flanagan over the last few seasons, we then oddly turn up the next week and got a score put on us. Hopefully it’s different season, if we can hang in for most games this season as we did today, surely we win at lest 50% of our games.

Our defence was 1st class yesterday , I honestly thought that it would break during the golden point segment , however it held with every Dragon making that last ditch effort to keep the hounds at bay .

My mind went back to those years of the Dragons golden run and how the premiership wins were built on the ‘ brick wall defence ‘ , well it was on show once more with every player digging deep to hang on until the final 7 seconds of the match .

I realize by the comments of members that we are proud of our lads and rightly so , but also it is something to build our season upon as they have now set the bar for our future matches this year and the standard is high - once again well done gentlemen !

And have a few beers on me and the rest of the gang !

Folks, I'm not one of those posters who is going to engage in any nastiness if I disagree with another members comments. Differences of opinion is what makes a forum such as this interesting to read. For the life of me I am not sure what our admiration/pride of efforts like yesterday are going to do for us. We as fans, should be demanding RESULTS. Any blind Freddy can see we lack speed and deceptive halves and that means we cannot score as freely and easily as other teams. I am also becoming increasingly concerned that our entire game plan is outdated. Brave hit up by big players, followed by a bomb and a kick chase have become predictable. Imagine having to plan to play us; not hard; not as if we are going to pull any rabbits out of hats. None! I don't think the new CEO is going to stand for this either. If we are anything like 2-7 or 3-6 after 9 rounds, Flannagan will be gone. I like Shane but my faith in him is waning. Let's agree that the team is brave. Let's start demanding we play some up-tempo ad-lib football and see where that gets us.

Blue Bags, I agree with you. It didn't help. But the club, and us, seem to be stuck in this excuse cycle. Until we stop playing the victims and take responsibility for our results, we won't improve. I have coached cricket for 30 years and it takes about 10 minutes for a new player to hear from an established player in one of my sides "Don't make excuses to Rob, or you will be in 2nd grade faster than you can sneeze'. Take accountability, no excuses is my mantra. I had a stylish new player this season complain about the pitch in an early game; "it's green, it's up and down, it's holding and two paced", I told him that it was 22 yards, green, has stumps at either end, two umpires AND you hit a full toss to mid-wicket. Not sure what the pitch has to do with your dismissal! Anyway, here is name and number of the 2nd grade coach, and good luck. Let's stop making excuses!

Flanno isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The CEO is backing him and so should the fans. To say you don't understand the admiration and pride is taking a pot shot at more then half the fan base.

The best thing that came out of that game was Atkinson’s long kicking. Pinpoint accuracy close to the ingoal or corners and not down fullbacks throat at the 25m like in the past.

We still don’t chase the bomb put pressure on, we lack that ability.
