RE : longgggg off seasons...

Isn't it time they came up with a summer comp?

Personally, not caring a fig about player welfare...I just don't want to watch soccer.

Especially if you're not a fan of getting soap in your eyes and even if you're true blue you'd have to admit James Graham is the equal of any front rower on the planet. Years ago I scoffed at a Pommy sympathiser in another forum who said Graham would walk straight into an Origin team, even when he was playing in England.

Still think I was right at the time but now he has proven himself here I have no doubt had he been playing for Souths or NSW there would have been far different results this year. So, in essence, this post is a replica in meaning of the previous post, except McNamara is the one pretending to play silly buggers.

None of the B Boys are as good as Graham and to lose this first game with a full strength side would be catastrophic for the Poms, so both coaches are playing with fingers crossed and tongue in cheek. Imo the game will be even more tantalising with players on both sides knowing that winning means more than winning, it means playing to secure a position.

The Kiwis on the other hand are interested more in combinations and the longer they go without a loss the better. I'm sure the powers that be want an England/Australia final 'for the good of the game', why else would they give them a good look at each other early. As usual the boys across the ditch are treated as pretenders but I hope they frighten the living f**king daylights out of 'em all

You're reading too much into coaches tactics Pops. Graham got dropped for drinking with Hock

You keep believing that and I'll continue studying how coaches plan for big games. Graham may have played had Sheens put a form team on the paddock, Hock is as tits on a bull. If the Pommie coach hadn't been gifted a perfect excuse for testing the hoopla surrounding the Burgess Boys one or two of his other big guns wouldn't be playing

Sheens got what he wanted and McNamara doesn't have to cut his wrists, only the whingers who do it for the sake of it need have the floor. The Poms did their best to ensure Australia emulated Woolworths shopping trolleys as you'd expect, had the game been played here we would have made sure the ground was capable of absorbing a tsunami.

As it stands now some of the Australian's didn't quite handle the conditions as well as others and Tim only need remind the squad that 'no position is safe' before he hits the sack with a Cheshire grin. Even the smallest of injuries to anyone other than key players will undoubtedly see rotations, all without repercussions for the coach.

England supporters also without shadow of doubt will state their case for a multitude of remedies for beating Australia. Graham and Widdop must play every possible remaining minute of the Cup is the obvious, but we knew that before, McNamara now takes a squad into the NZ side of the draw hell bent on proving a point they were only just denied.

The NRL referees don't do it the way the Pommies are accustomed to and they should learn. We will hear Aussie wankers jumping up and down about every little indiscretion they missed that 2 refs wouldn't when the truth is most Australian supporters don't want to hear a whistle interrupting play either. Perenara got caught up in the moment and Mini shouldn't have had a try stopped by Klein knitpicking.

Hopefully we can dispense with an outcry from Bible bashers and refer back to the halcyon days of test match forgiveness and allow Sammy B to be available for games that count. Maybe a similar mud puddle to the one that prevented him holding onto Billy also spoilt his direction tackling Sammy T.

All in all imo the first game was a great fact finder and the second established the facts . . . blurry maybe but the writing is still on the wall in both cases

So Rotfield is now 'most feared', I'd like to test that theory in the same room with him, a 24 carat f**kwit if ever there was one. Gallop has been bending him over so much so that Soccer is now the 'preferred' Sydney Sport and he highlights that by saying 'our' Sam is a thug and should be banned from the World Cup . . . the sooner a flare incinerates the seat he's sitting on the better.

Only just managed a replay of Fiji/Ireland, made thoroughly enjoyable by the brilliant playing surface and near perfect refereeing. The voice overs by Perenara should help ensure the process is adopted in the NRL. Fiji could frighten the shit out of the preferred teams if they can apply a stronger discipline and the surface suits them as it did in this game.

This WC may end up a catalyst for a Pacific Island 'Origin' style annual competition. Wouldn't surprise if some players tossed up in their preferences between NRL origin and hereditary origin. League would be mad not to build on the passion these islanders are exhibiting.

I still consider the Samoa/Tonga game earlier in the year as good as any other in '13 and if the NRL rightly decides to have Origin stand alone there's no reason a Pacific Island Origin knockout couldn't fill the gaps.

Found myself barracking for the Scots this morning, seems the Tongan haka gave the opposition more encouragement. Haynes' single refereeing was adequate and much less intrusive than 2 ref's, even the commentary was a breath of fresh air compared to the rubbish here. Klein sounded human in the video box and hard to argue against.

Makes you wonder if we ask too much from referees when all we really need is policing of indiscretions that make a difference. Bet if we watched every set of six in slo mo we could find a penalty in each. Great to be lost in the moment instead of having great moments butchered by whistleblowers, got the feeling Hayne was almost apologetic for the interruptions.

Seems the Pacific Islander teams play better against each other when bad discipline cancels itself out

Who says Sheens doesn't know what he's doing, Fiji are now going to have to face an Australian team chafing at the bit instead of one merely trying to maintain the status quo. The blokes who are not expected to start if Australia reaches the final will all get their chance to become an offer that can't be refused.

Not sure Inglis will have a hope in hell of displacing Slater but Jennings/Morris will be two trying to fit into one hole which will only become available might either perform miraculously. Can't imagine Hayne being on Tim's 'must have' list so he'll be one that is just given a run to appease the watchers. Most of the new faces starting will have to impress for brownie points should injuries pop up.

Different matter imo for Boyd Cordner who I think should be in the first team ahead of Lewis, I hope the bloke has a blinder if he gets on the paddock. Lewis is fragile, inconsistent and erratic, being an 'old boy' keeps him in the job.

Cam Smith must still be the best player on the planet, Sheens not yet willing to let an untried team spoil his chances of an NRL gig in the future, something an undefeated tour will enhance . . . Smith is everyone's security blanket

Yep pure genius from Sheens!

Who would have thought of the idea of picking fringe players in a nothing game.

Genius.

Since all you bring is a nothing game you'd certainly be an expert on the subject, might have trouble convincing the players they needn't turn up. Bet you wondered why 7mate bothered televising the US/Cook Island game, intriguing that it was to most of us wtf has it got to do with anything in your opinion.

Your teacup world apparently doesn't have room for the insignificant, while Sheens has to find a way to appease everyone all you have to do is keep track of a remote. Everyone, except you apparently, realises the difficulties he faces in a 'nothing' game he must win handsomely.

Must be a long time between finals for you, a whole lot of nothings to ignore

Either Jennings or Morris will replace Tate without having to do too much, Tate was by far the worst player onfield in the game v UK.. I'm sick of NSW and Australia picking incumbants and players out of position, instead of on form.. Tate, Darius, Thaiday 3 of many in the team.

Any player that wants in will have to play out of his skin, Sheens is comfortable and will have to get a hard on for any replacement, exactly why this is the opposite of a 'nothing' game. We would have a much better idea if Australia's only game hadn't been on skates, Tate didn't do any worse than anyone else . . . unless you're death riding him

Only seems that simple to the simple minded, any man and his dog can watch League, the trick is to analyse and appreciate. That way enjoying any game is not a waste of time.

Seems you're on your Pat Malone twerp, the rest of us understand at this level there are no 'fringe' players, they're all only an opportunity away. Sheens wants to perpetuate that thought and no player thinks of himself as a fringe player, not even Farah behind Smith.

You'd be better off concentrating on something less taxing like marbles . . . no, that's no good, being on the fringe could end up being a winner there too

By the way, you have to earn 'too easy' . . . f**king pretender using my totem, what's the forum coming too

Just because you state the bleeding obvious via your inane diatribe doesn't make it a reinvention of the wheel, you silly old fart.

If this has already happened, OZ is only making up the numbers.. Tate is not in the top 5 of OZ centres in fact he ain't top 5 for wingers [useless merkin] could and nearly did cost OZ v UK. Italy beat UK in their first hit out.. Doesn't say much for our selection considering that Graham and Hock were left out of the UK squad V OZ.. Like I said, We need to pick on form or our pants will be touching our ankles in the finals..

My fantasising about why Sheens is not playing your preferred team, which many people say should have been the team in the first game, is now obvious according to you. Tell me again why a coach wouldn't play his best team each week before a final, unless he is trying to determine which is his best team. Next, tell everyone why the team you think playing the Fijians is not the best . . . which according to many is the best.

Is there a reason you read my inane diatribe, I avoid yours which is far harder
