Well this could be do or die time for the Reds. Another loss and we are facing a finish to the season fighting to avoid the wooden spoon, a win and it could kick start us to a very commendable mid table finish.

If we play like we did last week we should win this game and hopefully they can put together a full 80mins for the first time this season. It will be my first home game missed so they will probably turn it on and score 50!

Commeeeeee Onnnnnnnn Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Redsssssssssssssssss!

Looks a more balanced team but I would still have Gheradi in for Kestel and an extra prop on the bench!

Were you there Joondalup_Giant? I didn't see you if you were. I was often looking around our unofficial Giants section to see who was around, and all I saw was Browny, Bouncer, Tony, Lahtzy, JB, Arnotts, and a few of the Northern Broncos fellas: Lockie, Trav, Leo, and Richard.

REDS WIN IN THRILLER
In a game which may shape the second half of the season the WA Reds took on the 6th placed Erina Eagles and were slow to start allowing the visitors to go to a quick 12 nil lead.
But in a do or die approach in the second half the Reds came home stronger and fitter to eventually run in a try to level the game in the 79th minute which was converted by Mick Kestel to take the lead for the first time 32 to 30. Before the kick could be taken by Erina the final whistle blew to a jubilant roar from the very vocal home crowd.
The effort from the Reds in the second half earned them their fourth win for the season.
It was not until the 9 minute mark in the first half that the Reds had their first touch of the ball following a couple of very doubtful penalty decisions which caused captain Shayne McMenemy to fire up and question the referee, which seemed to create more pressure on the home team for the next few decisions.
After 15 minutes the WA Reds started putting pressure on the Eagles and their inability to defend close to their line was exploited allowing Heath Egglestone to cross the line to score for the Reds.
The play of the night came at the 32 minute mark with McMenemy chipping forward to a running Egglestone who passed on to Jon Phipps who crossed the line from 15 metres to make the score a more credible 10 to 18
Just before half time the hard running of the Eagles pushed another try over to make it a 10 to 24 score line, which was disappointing for the home side due the lack of discipline which allowed in easy tries.
The second half started well for the Reds with a try in the first set from a cross kick from McMenemy which hit two runners allowing Jason Godecke to cross the line.
Against the flow of the game Eagles replied through some smart passing in the middle to take a 30 to 16 lead which they then held till the 21 minute mark.
The team and crowd could sense the Reds getting the ascendancy and it seemed only whether time was on their side or not. The Eagles were definitely tiring and the Reds were pushing harder and harder at the ball.
The score line went to 26 to 30 with Godecke’s second try of the night at 26 minutes in the second half. While there was plenty of time, the efforts of the Reds were going unrewarded.
The crowd erupted with seconds to go in the game when, on the sixth tackle from 20 metres, Tyrone Coppedge took an excellent Captian's pass from McMenemy and ran over the try line having presence of mind to score under the posts.
Captain McMenemy was easily the best afield figuring in most of the scoring plays for the night and led by his skills and experience.
Next week the Reds are on the road again to play Cabramatta before heading back for another two home games.
Any genuine Rugby league fan who wasn't at the game tonight missed an absolute beauty!

You sell-out! You're so out of touch with the common man now I don't know who you are anymore ...!

It was such a good night to be out in the fresh air too - nice and warm (well, maybe not warm, but not cold or even cool - just pleasant). No rain either.

What did I tell you, sounded like a cracker and I was in Sydney! I'd have traded it for the poor game I ended up seeing at ANZ!

Sounds like McMenemy had a good game, who were our other standouts?

Although probably the most vocal crowd I think I have seen thus far, it was also the smallest I have seen. I put it down to being on the same day as WARL seniors. I wasn't at the only previous clash (I was in Kalgoorlie with the Giants), but I know the Joondalup contingent was a fair bit smaller due to having played that day and most preferring to be at the post-game drinks and presentations instead.

It's a shame, because they missed a great fightback!

Wonder if there is mileage in holding all the WARL presentations post game at MES in the lounge area? Free beer for players. Bound to attract more!

The Reds don't even have theirs there! They've mentioned during the past few games that post-game drinks, ect, will be held at the Paddo and they invite the crowd to join them and meet the players.

I also somehow can't see players who've finished games at, say, Rockingham, Fremantle, Joondalup, ect, going all the way to East Perth for a few drinks - especially for clubs like Fremantle, North Beach, South Perth, Central who have their own clubhouse. At Joondalup, we go to The Old Bailey these days as they are one of our sponsors and we try to support our sponsors as they support us. Not going to them post-game isn't going to help us in the future.

It's a good idea in principle, but I can't see it working unfortunately.
