Double
It’s every single f**king week. I’m over it. It’s killing my love for the game. That’s your opinion. Not saying you can’t have it. But you are wrong. Texperts in the bunker said it was a try. So it’s a try.
Diddums mate. Not like Raiders are the only ones copping what we think are rubbish calls.
The officiating is garbage but it is garbage fir everyone. Okay maybe not garbage enough on Manly or Storm…but garbage
I know, all I’m saying is it’s happening all the time in nearly every game. It’s every single f**king week. I’m over it. It’s killing my love for the game.
My main issue is the lack of professionalism from Rugby League commentators and journalists. Whether it is out of pure incompetence or laziness, or whether it is intentional to maintain outrage, the complete lack of willingness to do one iota is research into the rules/interpretations of the game is really leading to unwatchable coverage and a stupid fan base. Employing people like Steve Roach probably doesn’t help either.
We had to put up with it during the hip drop coverage with the “no one knows what it is” era when the NRL released clear guidelines. Now we are getting it during the obstruction coverage. The only reason they are confused is because they want to be.
In addition to this, the constant back flipping on issues is ridiculous. Phil Gould perfected it with his “video ref is too involved” and “why didn’t the video ref intervene” arguments. Now it’s league wide with the “we want black and white obstruction rules” which has all of a sudden become “you can’t have black and white obstruction rules”.
The games have been so much more enjoyable to watch with no commentary. I really wish Fox would give viewers the option to watch without commentary.

I just wish commentators would just call what they see. I couldn't care less about their opinion on a referee decision or whatever show they promote. It also shits me when they favour one side during a call too. As ambassadors of the game they should be impartial. My main issue is the lack of professionalism from Rugby League commentators and journalists. Holy moly, this was given a try?For context. He clearly loses the ball.
Players don’t tend to understand a lot of the rules. Hell, a lot of them don’t understand the set restart changes or impeding kick changes. It’s why the ridiculous calls for former players in the bunker are pointless (and it’s been tried before).Sam Walker today said he was confused about the obstruction, Not the 1st player to say it.
As for the Hip drop we saw players sent to the sin bin who later saw no charge from the MRC, That to me shows officials have no idea about what it is either

As for the Hip Drop issues the vast majority were ruled correctly, but there were some mistakes. Just like any other rule. When there is a missed knock on we don’t hear the carry on about “no one knows what a knock on is” or when the bunker intervenes in a high tackle that doesn’t result in an MRC charge we don’t hear “no one knows what a high tackle is”.
The try that put the Sharks in front, no less.Holy moly, this was given a try?
Oh he did not re-establish control. Get off the meth you blithering idiot. It was a try. I can see how people thought he lost control, but iro clearly reestablished control before grounding. Regardless the live call way ‘try’ and it was hardly a howler. There are plenty of those to get upset about each week
Keep the bias to the game threads. It's a blatantly obvious knock on.It was a try. I can see how people thought he lost control, but iro clearly reestablished control before grounding. The irony of this post is that in the same Manu no try, there was a much more obvious ‘black and white’ obstruction on Luai that hasn’t even been considered because he didn’t fall over….Unfortunately the obstruction issue is one of those things where you will never in a million years get everyone to be on the same page about it. I don't mind it remaining black and white personally as it seems to lead to the fairest, most uniform outcomes possible, but I bet you any money you like that if diving and attempting to milk a certain response from the refs or the bunker started getting penalized, the players would stop doing it overnight.
We've gotten to this embarrassing place now where the fullback is intentionally colliding with a lead runner in order to muddy the waters enough to get out of conceding a try. Dylan Edwards pulled one of the worst you'll ever see just this weekend (big surprise Penrith playing dirty, then Cleary Sr. has the audacity to say black and white doesn't work) by changing his line to clash with JWH and absolutely nothing was said about it. Now unless the guy in a bunker is a moron, he should be able to see in that footage that Edwards has milked it for all its worth.
